Recovery procedure for Acer netbooks.

Important Information

The Recovery disc will help you to restore the hard drive with the original software content that was installed when you purchased your notebook. Follow the steps below to rebuild your hard drive. Your drive will be reformatted and all data will be erased. It is important to back up all data files before you use this option.

Restoration procedure:

1. Press the power button to turn the system on.

2. Select to boot from a USB optical drive. There are two ways to do this:

2.1. Press <F2> during the Power-On Self-Test (when the Acer logo is displayed onscreen after bootup) to enter BIOS Setup.

2.1.1. Select the Boot menu.

2.1.2. Refer to onscreen instructions to set the first device to any bootable optical disc drive.

2.2. Press <F12> during the Power-On Self-Test (when the Acer logo is displayed onscreen after bootup), and select the USB ODD from the list that appears.

3. Ensure the Recovery disc is in an external (USB) optical disc drive, and exit the boot selection menu, by selecting Exit Saving Changes from the Exit menu or pressing <F10>, or by pressing <Enter> as appropriate.

4. Select Exit Saving Changes from the Exit menu or press <F10>.

5. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation process.

6. When you finish the recovery process, please remove the Recovery disc and insert the System disc again.

7. Restart your computer.

My cursor wont work after logging on my acer aspire one netbook

It sounds like a virus, use a external mouse if possible to run a full scan of your system with your anti-virus and download malwarebytes anti-malware from www.download.com if none of these work, try a system restore taking computer back to an earlier time.

Need to reset acer aspire 1200 desktop

The Aspire One is a netbook produced by Acer; it does not come equipped with a CD ROM drive, so a traditional hard drive reformat and Windows reinstallation is not possible without a peripheral storage device. An external USB CD or flash drive will suffice, however.Difficulty:Moderate

Instructions

    • 1 Plug in the external CD drive, then turn on your netbook and let it boot to your operating system.
    • 2 Open your web browser and go to the BootDisk website (see link in Resources). Download the Windows XP Fresh Install Bootable CD, then burn these files to a blank CD via your external CD drive.
    • 3 Ensure the files have burned to your bootable CD, then restart the netbook with the CD still in the drive.
    • 4 The netbook should boot to the CD upon the restart. Follow the instructions prompted for installation. Upon completion you will have a clean installation of Windows XP on your Acer Aspire One.

How to do system recovery on aspire one

Hi you should be able to do the following, if not you will need an external CD drive & recovery disk.

1. Consider what data you still need from your Acer Aspire One's hard drive. Save the files to an external USB device.

2. Restart the Acer Aspire One's operating system. Wait for the Acer logo to appear on the LCD screen.

3. Press the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time to bring up the recovery menu. Press "Enter."

4. Click "Next." Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to restore the operating system back to factory settings.

5. Use the drop-down boxes to select the time zone and language information for your Acer Aspire One. Restart the netbook when you are prompted to finish restoring the computer.

6. Connect the external USB device to your Acer Aspire One and transfer the data you saved earlier back to the netbook.

Warning:
It is possible to delete the hard drive partition that has the recovery tool.

If your Acer Aspire One no longer has the recovery partition, you will need
to acquire an external USB DVD drive and then contact Acer for a recovery DVD.
Connect the USB drive to the netbook's USB port and then insert the recovery DVD in the drive.

Hope this helps.

I have an Acer Aspire One netbook model KAV60. the windows xp home edition service pack 3 was wiped by a virus and I need to re-install. There is no cd drive and i did not get ant installation discs with...

you are either going to have to make a bootable installation on a USB memory stick or get an external usb CD drive or a network install down the wire. There is no easy way.

I need to restore my netbook to factory settings but I don't have a flash drive or disk drive

Hi,

With Acer One's there is usually a hidden partition that will allow you to recover the operating system to factory defaults without the use of a flashdrive or a CD/DVD drive.

To recover the operating system please follow the below instructions carefully.

Consider what data you still need from your Acer Aspire One's hard drive. Save the files to an external USB device.

Restart the Acer Aspire One's operating system. Wait for the Acer logo to appear on the LCD screen.

Press the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time to bring up the recovery menu. Press "Enter."

Click "Next." Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to restore the operating system back to factory settings.

Use the drop-down boxes to select the time zone and language information for your Acer Aspire One. Restart the netbook when you are prompted to finish restoring the computer.

That should be it. All you have to do from there is restore any files you backed up before the recovery.

If there is anything else please post back.

Regards.

I have a lsass.exe error message and netbook keeps restarting, it wont boot in safe mode or anything and I have no cd drive either. Please help...

lsass.exe is certainly a virus issue, the actual process isnt really a virus but viruses hijack the process for their own nefarious reasons.
You only have two options really, 1) use a boot disk antivirus (search google for avg boot cd) and then use the restore disks to try and repair the system file (copy the one off the restore disk to replace the corrupt one on your system)
2) Use your restore disks / another installation disk to build a new operating system.

Just remember if you have data on the drive to take it out to get your data off first. Personally I'd take your drive out and put a new drive in, then build a new OS on the new drive, nice clean and fast, then put your data onto it.

Hello i have an Acer Aspire One model zg5 netbook

You're going to need to boot it from the Windows XP installation disk, which means if you don't have a CD drive you'll need to get an external CD-ROM drive. This will fix the problem.

I ended up with a virus on my acer aspire one laptop and it prevents me from doing a system restore. How can I fix the laptop without sending it to a computer fixit shop?

Start up in Safe Mode. Go to your System Properties and disable System Restore. Run a full-system scan with your antivirus. Remove the detected infections, and go back and re-enable System Restore. Create a restore point, and restart. This should remove the virus.
