Even if a convergence problem exists you should still have a picture, a bad one but a picture----call the menu up with the Mitsubishi remote and select convergence and then advanced---a grid of lines will appear in green---got dramatic red and blue showing and you have a convergence issue.
Do that first----presuming no hookup is ok (try a dvd player) the set does have the OPTION menu(can tell you how to get there) that is based on a 4 digit number code--may have that for this model or not).
It will not correct any convergence problems but will do a hard reset of the set back to factory original.
Let me know what you find---it sounds like 2 problems exist.

Your problem is one and or 2 differant problems. The power regulator could have went bad because of the convergence IC have shorted. Seen this a thousand(easy that!)Times. All parts in this set are soldered in and are not user serviceable. look in your owners manual or call 800-332-2119 to get an authorized servicer to come and look at your problem . I wish i could tell you what to replace but theres the Extreme Hi voltage inside these sets even when they are not plugged in .. Good Luck

replace the signal board (one with all the rca's on it) and not the main board if a plain antenna works OK

also check resistor values on the chips and resolder the tuner as this can cause problems as they heat up , then replace any electrolitic capacitors in the video circuts selector ic
i will be back to see what you get
