At this point, unless you have a blu-ray or HD-DVD burner in your computer (and equivalent player), then you can't save HD to a DVD and have it play back in a regular DVD player. You should be able to transfer the HD video through firewire to the computer, but you might have to wait for a while until you can burn them to HD compatible DVDs. The only other option that I know of is to encode the HD video using a DivX codec (http://www.divx.com/) and just burn the file itself to the DVD, then if your DVD player can play DivX files, then you should be able to play it back on that.

Adobe has also stated that they will be releasing an HDV plug-in for their popular Premiere editing system later this year. "The Sony HDR-FX1 is a milestone product, bringing HD-quality video at resolutions of up to 1080i at a price that will encourage widespread adoption of HDV across the industry. In keeping with our commitment to lead the HD revolution, Adobe plans to release a HDV Plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro later this year," said Steve Saylor, Vice President, Digital Imaging and Video, Adobe Systems, Inc.

I recorded my movies on the dw 100 but now i can't grt them to play on my dvd player

The DW-100 records discs based on the format they were originally recorded.

If your camera is recording HiDef videos than the discs this unit creates will be viewable on a Blu-ray disc player.

If your camera is recording in Standard Definition (ie. NOT HD) then I believe that the discs will work in regular or upconverting DVD players.

My Canon camcorder does not record in Standard Def so can't quite vouch for that last comment though.
