When power supply got burned on the computer. A problem arises first in the CPU. If the power supply burned because of a power glits is a different story. try to save your data you probably need to buy a new computer.

Reformat your hard drive, reinstall windows, and reinstall your drivers and programs, and copy your data from backup.

You can download your drivers from www.emachines.com.

Also, you can order your recovery cds from emachines from the same website. Have fun!

What brand of memory ram can I use in a t 2240 ? :) , tnx

The brand doesnt matter, you do need to be concerned with the type you use.

I looked up your computer on emachine's website and determined that you can use 184-pin DDR 266 memory.

search results from newegg (a trusted online retailer in computer/networking hardware):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=%2040000147&Description=pc2100&bop=And&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&Order=PRICE&PageSize=20

kingston and pqi are both respectable companies for memory

That being said, I would contact emachine to determine the maximum amount of ram supported by your motherboard:

the page specific to your computer (contact info at bottom):

http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T%20Series&model=T2240

if you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks,
Mike

What form factor is the motherboard

The form factor of a motherboard determines the specifications for its general shape and size. It also specifies what type of case and power supply will be supported, the placement of mounting holes, and the physical layout and organization of the board

Replaced power supply on T2240 emachine now cant get onboard video" or any video, also tried PCI video card with no results. Need video to see if machine can boot

the fact that your not getting any video is that your computer is not booting or it can't boot right now.

might be best if you found someone to test and help you with it or if you took it to someone.

I have an eMachine T2240 with an Intel Celeron processor 2.20 GHz & 384 MB of RAM.  The only real complaint I have is that this machine runs slow - it is rather aged - and I tend to bump up against my...

Memory: Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. You may purchase here.
This will give you the biggest speed increase.

CPU: I could not find specs for which cpus this motherboard supports. However, I had one of these same machines and succesffuly swapped out the celeron processor for a pentium 4 processor, 2.53 GHz. You should be safe finding a used processor on ebay that's a Pentium 4 2.2 GHz and it should work for you.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

Emachines T2240

low density works alot more often then high density, HD is just cheaper and thats mostly why it't not compatible with as many boards.
Good luck,

Problem

Without your restore CD you'll have to purchase WinXP. You could phone tech support and see if they'll ship you a replacement restore CD, or find another T2240 and see if they'll let you copy theirs. The eMachines restore CDs and model-specific.

Another option is to install a freee OS like Ubuntu or Kbuntu.

Good luck.
