My screen won't show up

Only the first version of the PS3 had PS2 backwards compatibility, They did make a special edition Metal Gear Solid version with it included but other than that no other PS3 will play PS2 discs... No matter what Add-On you install.

I believe your PS2 has a short circuit and needs another motherboard. If you can do this yourself, that's great. You can find Motherboards or a PS2 like yours that will not read discs or has Disc Read Errors but will boot up for about $25 on Ebay. If you're not comfortable with Changing out your motherboard, then click on the "Repair directory" at the bottom of this screen. On the Repair Directory Screen, select Video Game Consoles. Choose a good Repair shop.

If your PS2 works fine with most of the games and won’t play a few..Then you should try this trick to play them too on your PS2:

1. Turn on your PS2 without inserting any disc.
2. Menu screen will appear like:
3. Press the (triangle) Button to enter Version Information Menu that looks like
4. Highlight the Play Station Driver as above and again press (triangle).
5. New screen will appear like
6. Highlight the Disc Speed as above and press X button,to enter Disc Speed Menu
7. And set it from Standard to "Fast".
8. After you set Disc Speed to Fast, Press and Hold Reset Button to turn off your console.
9. Then again Press and Hold Reset Button till the Blue Light turns on.
10. Remove the Reset Button and Press it again.

Be patient and wait till the game loads itself. If your lens is in good condition then it will play game in first go else try again till it PLAY your game. If still your Grand Turismo 4 DVD wont work then you must clean your PS2 lens.Watch following video to learn about cleaning lens:

Your console is an old one,and your lens too is probably weak.Try cleaning your PS2 lens Watch Video at end of solution to clean your PS2 at home....
You can also follow these steps to make your PS2 to play GTA San Andreas:

1. Turn on your PS2 without inserting any disc.
2. On menu screen go to [options] by pressing 'triangle' button.
3. A new screen will appear select by pressing 'X' [DISC SPEED]and set it to [FAST]
4. Then insert the game disc.
5. Turn off your PS2.
6. Press and Hold the [Reset Button] till the blue light turns on.Release the Reset button and press it again.

It will take a bit more time to play game,but first i recommend you to clean your PS2 lens,watch this video.


I've got something else to add.......you can follow above steps to play DVD movies if your PS2 dont play any.....!!!

buy a new ps2 cause its gone cost the same by the time you buy the part and have someone to fix it

my playstation2 says please insert a ps2 or ps format disc and there IS a cd

have you checked that the av cables are pluged in properly???

video out is out

maybe it's the lens were loose. Try to check inside of ps2!
