Disc dosent want to play

Have you tried putting a cleaning disc into the Ps2 to clean the eye. Try that and it might fix your problem.

Your system needs a mod chip to play games on a disc that was not created by Sony.
Most ps2 games are DVD's only some are cd's.. All of the ps1 games are cd's so if you burnt it onto a dvd its not going to work.

Your PS2 doesn't need to format a disc. It's asking for a disc with Playstation 2 type software on it. In other words, it's looking for a PS2 game.

If you're putting a PS2 game in there and it's asking for one -- your laser is going out. It thinks the disc you put in is not a disc of PS2 type (PS2 format). You can find a quick tutorial on confirming this is the problem, and the laser (and repair) at the following page:

i think that your playstation has worn out and i personally would be going onto a site like ebay and buying a new ps2, you could pick up a cheap second hand one for 50 bucks

okay, try this: 1. Start up PS2 with no disc 2. select 'Browser', press triangle. 3. select 'Console', press triangle. 4. select 'Diagnostics', press X, select 'ON'. 5. press 'O' to back out of this menu. 6. select 'Playstation Drive', press triangle. 7. select 'Disc Speed', press X, select 'FAST'. 8. press 'O' to back out of menu. 9. turn off PS2. 10. insert disc. The Diagnostics should run and automatically adjust your PS2 to play the game. I got this "FIX" from someone who had the same problem. Hope this helps :D

If you are in North America, you PS2 will not play PAL formatted disks. (NTSC is what is used here). You would need a modded PS2 to play the game. If you can get your money back, I would recommend that. If not, then you might want to try to sell it on eBay.

If there was a game in the console when she steped on it, and you kept playing it after and it still worked. Then, {this is just a guess}, the ps2 could have gotten use to the game in the console and when you took it out and put a new game in it was not used to it so maybe you should just keep trying to play a different game until it works. But if you already tried that then i think the ps2 could be broken.

You should try to get a ps2 disk cleaner and a cleaner for your system.
