You can get help nearby qualified TV tech to check audio amp in TV.

That didn't work, interesting is the fact that when I get into the sound effect menu none of the options can be changed, they are all set to "off" and I can't change them. When I turn up the sound on the TV to max, I can hear the hiss but I still can't hear sound.
Well, I've tried several things but I thought that I would stick to something simple a camcorder to inputs. I have tried inputs 1-4. I see picture but no sound. I hear sound on my camcorder.
Thank you! That worked and I was able to hear through the amplifier. Obviously still no TV sound. I think some setting is incorrect in the menu but I have been through everything.

here is another option, do you get sound on TV AUDIO OUT terminals if you hookup any amp / receiver there?

DVD player or direct cable?
unplug tv from ac outlet for 15 minutes, then replug and power it up and check.
