Audible static sound when playing back recordings.

I have a JVC GR-D395U Mini DV camcorder that is less than a year old and has probably been used 10 times. My problem is than when I record video, during playback from the tape or playback that has been transferred to my pc there will be intermittent loud static. The best description would be a radio with bad reception and the static will get so loud it will drown out all other sounds it lasts for a few minutes, then it will go away or sometimes it won?t. It isn?t continuous, does not matter how long I?ve been recording nor does it matter if I am indoors or outside. It happens at the various points of the recording, sometimes just in the beginning or at some point during the video, depending on how long I am recording it may go away or continue until I?ve completed my shot. I record mostly family situations so the camcorder is not recording for very long at any one given time. I know that it is not wind noise, I have recorded outside and picked up wind noise and the sounds are distinctively different.

Not much to add , i'v got the same problem as this person discribes.

When playing back , static sound will join the sound and increase in volume , then either stay or fade away again , it isnt caused by wind.

Just recorded a total 15 minutes made from 2-3 minutes parts , in 2 occasions it happens and lasts about 20-30seconds each.

I have same problem. MIne will have loud static for first 5 minutes of tape then generally stop. I tried to fool camera by leaving on 10 minutes before starting recording and it worked until I changed tapes and it started again for first 8 minutes of tape.

SOURCE: GR-D72 Mini DV Digital Camcorder makes clicking sound when tape running

the clicking is from the capstain turning the tape -- and perhaps the metal cage holding the tape.. if it is bent then the movement of the capstain may be pushing it in an eccentric fashion.

send it in for repair.

I'm pretty sure you can. It should record about an hour on MPEG4 format.

Does this cam, play the mini dv tapes????

If you are referring to the JVC GR-DVL520, yes it does play Mini DV tapes, as well as records to them. It will not play Mini DV tapes that were recorded on an HDV camera. HDV is used by any Mini DV camera that records HD video.

Jvc gr-d395u video camcorder, move mini dv to computer

How it's supposed to work is to get a program that recognizes the camera, then the tape can be captures. Windows Movie Maker never supported it. In fact Microsoft doesn't even support it anymore. They have recommended using Pinncale Studio to work with DV cameras.

Once you install Studio, put the tape in, turn the camera on, Studio will load up.

JVC GR-D250 does not record properly

When playing the tape in the camera itself, do you hear sound? If so, its something with the connection cable... is not, you will need a professional repair, you can do nothing except the head clean which you did? Sorry.
