    I can use the menu only on manual not on auto.

I'm pretty sure you can. It should record about an hour on MPEG4 format.

Hi,
Memory card is for still images/ pictures in this camcorder, I'm afraid.
You can take movie only on MiniDV tape and take still pictures on memory card.

I put a new 4gb sandisk hc memory card into my jvc gr d270u video cam and i get card error message with or without the card unlocked.i can not go to the format menu with the card in place.
Hardware of this camcorder supports up to 2GB memory card so 4GB is more than its capacity and causing error.
Try 1GB or 2GB memory card in camcorder.

Jvc gr-d395u video camcorder, move mini dv to computer
How it's supposed to work is to get a program that recognizes the camera, then the tape can be captures. Windows Movie Maker never supported it. In fact Microsoft doesn't even support it anymore. They have recommended using Pinncale Studio to work with DV cameras.

Once you install Studio, put the tape in, turn the camera on, Studio will load up.

Problems recording onto memory card with JVC GR-D70
DUDE u can only take some stills in the memory mode. no vedio recording is available in memory mode. Thats not a problem DUDE. i got the same model.
