The WEP key is part of the security for your modem/router. Check your set up for the router. If you do not know how to do this, go to the manufacturer's website and look for support page for your product.

if your roter settings have a place to "disable SMI Firewall", try that, my wii wouldn't conect to mine until i did that, othwise try it with no key and see if it will conect.

Make sure that your router is using WEP security and not other ones. Might be a compatibility issue. I am pretty sure you will have to enter the encrypted one into your psp, also encrypted WEP have no spaces in them. If you feel you have to update since you can't access internet you can do so with a fairly new game UMD. Hope this helps.

The WEP key is generated BY the Router, you need to go into the Router and discover the WEP key, or simply generate a new one and use that... a WEP key can just be considered a numerical "Password" Check your manual about WEP/WAP Keys.
