Built-in video on motherboards use shared RAM ie uses part of the main RAM.
When you get POST beeps and there is no video then the RAM maybe faulty or just needs reseating.
Try reseating the RAM first and if it still does not work the remove the RAM and take the RAM to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you.

Have you tested that the RAM on the computer IS OK?
Have you tested that the Video card on the machine is OK?

has any real troubleshooting been done on the machine?


if he just told you the motherboard was burned without doing any other testing you are dealing with a fraud.

depending on the beeps, you cand determine from where the problem is.

beep pause beep pause and so on its from ram disks

long beep pause beep beep its from video card

try cleaning the ram and video slots with a dry toothbrush not to hard though

Do you get video? If so then it could be a stuck key on the keyboard.

Do you get no video? If so then reseat the RAM.

The beep pattern is a beep code and is how the motherboard communicates errors during the early booting process otherwise known as the POST (Power On Self-Test). List restart the computer and listen for the pattern of short and long beeps. Soltek does not list the beep codes in their manual, instead they refer to Phoenix who manufacturers the AwardBIOS on your motherboard. There are only two POST beep codes; a single long beep followed by two short beeps (Video error) and anything else. Apparently anything else you hear *probably* refers to RAM problems. Since you?ve already tested both one of the remaining options is to install a *POST* card (about $30 to $50), boot the PC and read the hexadecimal error code for a more detailed clue to what failed. If you ask around you might find someone who has one and may be willing to loan it to you. Another option is to write off the motherboard since the cost of the test equipment it about 1/3 the cost of a new board.
