Get sound through a Behringer 1204FX mixer & FCA202 interface

I have:

a) 2 AKG 1000S microphones (they seem to be working, the LED react to sound, barely, [power & phantom power light {+48 V} are lit])

b) plugged into inputs numbered 1 & 2 of a Behringer Xenyx 1204FX mixer (maybe the problem is there?,)

c) XLR to phono plug cables which run from the MAIN OUTPUTS of the

d) XENIX 1204FX mixer to a

e) FCA202 Firewire audio interface (single firewire cable maybe the problem?) which runs to my

f) MacBook Pro firewire interface, (only has one firewire interface,)

which I want to use with GarageBand to get a second person recorded on my podcast for interviews co-host, etc.

No luck, no joy,

What don't I know about this setup to get it to work?

Pointers to schematics would be appreciated as well.

Where are the trim controls set?
Those mics use both phantom and battery power; are the mic switches set to phantom?
Try using the CD/Tape outputs to the FCA202

I have a Behringer Xenyx 1204FX and the DSP Display doesn't illuminate (but works by pressing down and turning the knob). Any idea why it's not on? Also the AUX 1 Send doesn't seem to be working

It sounds like you're experiencing a couple of issues with your Behringer Xenyx 1204FX mixer. Let's address each of these problems separately:
  1. DSP Display Not Illuminating: The fact that the DSP display works when you press down and turn the knob suggests that the issue might be related to the display itself or its connection. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
    • Check Power Source: Ensure that the mixer is receiving proper power and is turned on. Sometimes display issues can be caused by power-related problems.
    • Connection: Make sure the ribbon cable or connector that connects the display to the circuit board is properly seated. A loose connection could be causing the display to not illuminate.
    • Faulty Display: If none of the above steps work, there might be a problem with the display itself. You may need to contact Behringer support or a professional technician to get the display repaired or replaced.
  2. AUX 1 Send Not Working: If the AUX 1 send is not working as expected, there could be several reasons for this:
    • Routing Settings: Make sure that the AUX 1 send is properly routed to the desired destination. Check the routing options on the mixer to ensure that the signal is being sent to the correct output or destination.
    • Level Controls: Verify that the level controls for AUX 1 are set correctly. Make sure that the AUX 1 knob for the specific channel you're working with is turned up.
    • Effects/Processing: If you're trying to send a signal with effects applied, check if the effects are set up correctly. Sometimes, an incorrect effect or routing setting can affect the AUX send.
    • Cable and Connections: Ensure that the cables connecting the AUX 1 send to external devices (such as monitors or effects units) are functioning properly and securely connected.
    • AUX Master Level: Confirm that the AUX 1 master level (usually located on the main output section of the mixer) is turned up to an appropriate level.
If you've gone through these troubleshooting steps and the issues still persist, it might be a good idea to consult the user manual for your Behringer Xenyx 1204FX mixer for further guidance. If the problems continue, you may need to reach out to Behringer support or consider seeking assistance from a professional audio technician or repair service.

Best way to connect 2 1204FX mixers together

Try running the tape out of the slave to the tape in of the master unit. This us haywire, but should work. Use a stereo RCA cable.

I cant make on microphone go thru my amp mixer

It's obvious that there is a misunderstanding. Your FCA202 is designed to get line level inputs (not microphone level) and convert the signal to digital format for the computer to "undestand", it's working like an audio card. So in your case all you need is a microphone preamplifier to pass the signal from your mic to FCA202, or an audio mixer to do that.

Adobe Audition 3 Not Sensing Mic

Check the input and output settings. Look in the preferences or settings menu for "i/o settings" or "i/o setup." You're going to set it from the default internal mic input to this one. It sounds like it may be that simple.

Behringer F-CONTROL AUDIO... Problem:

I had a similar problem where as I could use the mic no problem at all but couldn't hear anything through the headphones. The simple solution was to disable the driver for my internal soundcard. It took me 48 hours to work it out! Good luck.

Low audio input

You need to use a mic preamp or a mixer with a mic preamp built in. The inputs on the FCA202 are line level and they won't work with a mic directly.
