When energized, screen stays on for about two seconds then blanks

Pl913s is plugged into HP Pavillion Computer. Repeatedly we disconnedted Video cable; the Green Power Light stays on when energized, and the NO INPUT dialogue boxes comes on then goes off when source is removed. I replaced PL with my old monitor and I'm doing this task. I took monitor back to Staples and we plugged it in and each time the screen came on for a moment then died to black. The system has been in my possession approximately 2 years and five months. Is there a warranty fix for this or am I on my own.

Hi...there,
Well, it's seems your monitor backlight inverter are bursted. Usually, the monitor had a 1 year for the screen panel and 3 years for parts and labors. You're still under warranty, send it back to manufacturer for repaired.

Hi
At some point if you can get the computer to stay up for a while, you should go into control panel and check your
POWER settings. The other thing you should try if you haven't already is to shut the computer off and pull out the battery. Then after a minute re-install the battery and see
if that helps.

Good Luck
Joe
ps: If I come up with any ideas I will post.

Screen stays lit for 2 seconds and then goes blank

The problem can be bad caps (bulging top) which is more likely, or bad backlight inverter circuits. Check to see if you do have 12vdc or no bad caps, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Hp 6000 notebook screen goes black..... blue control lights go on and off

if i'm reading this correctly, it sounds like it could be a motherboard/video issue. If that's the case then unfortunately you are probably going to need a new computer if it's out of warranty...

for now however, try shutting down the computer and removing all power (power cord, battery) for a few minutes, then plug it back in and try to boot.
