Chero, unfortunately because of the age of this unit Sunbeam stopped production of the internal parts.

SOURCE: Regarding the Sunbeam Mixmaster (model

Pry the beater release button out with a screwdriver. There are two screws underneath it and one under the motor housing between the the beater holes. This will allow you to remove the chrome front cover, but not the motor and drive assembly. Getting to the part that contains the gears requires complete disassembly of the mixer. It is not designed for service, and requires patience and a variety of tools to disassemble.

It has a metal worm gear and plastic drive gears. If the beaters are out of alignment, then one or both of the plastic gears are stripped and the mixer is junk. Repair plus shipping costs equals the price of a new mixer. This is the weak point of these mixers and a fundamental flaw in an otherwise robust and sturdy design. It is definitly not the same mixer *********** bought 30 years ago.

It is the worm gears attached to the front of the motor in the housing I had the same problem on the heritage series. The parts are plastic so inevtiably they wear out.

Need gears for beaters for the Sunbeam Mixmaster 2346-030

Try this website. This is the Sunbeam site with links to the parts supply companies they recommend. There are small companies out there that can do the repairs for you.

Beaters are hitting each other and jamming up

One of the beaters had jumped a gear. I understand they are nylon gears. My wife's had the same trouble. I unplugged the mixer, removed the bowl and install the beaters if you can to see where they are touching. They were two cogs off. I grapped the left (red) beater firmly and twisted it to the left. It took a couple tries and turning on the motor (with out beaters) to find the spot where they had skipped. In the end the left beater jumped back one then two teeth and now the beaters aline properly.
This will happen again with heavy dough, etc. now that the teeth are worn in that spot. Use a bread machine for the heaver dough. IMHO

Regarding the Sunbeam Mixmaster (model 2346): How do I remove the front cover of the mixer so that I may reallign or replace the beater gears?

Stripped beater gear

It is terminal. This is the fatal design flaw of these mixers. The gears are made of soft plastic and strip easily. Even the gear housing is plastic that is either glued or melted together to make it unserviceable. I have never suceeded in finding the part from either Sunbeam or one of the many appliance repair places on the web (who charge the cost of a new mixer for repair). Sunbeam does not repair them; if it is determined to have malfunctioned due to quality or design while under warranty, it is simply replaced with a new one. I had mine replaced under warranty twice, each time they sent me a new one complete with extra bowls and beaters. Now I have three sets of bowls and beaters and no functioning mixer.

Sunbeam hand mixer. One beater not working

That spring does not turn the beaters. It is part of the beater release assembly. Probably one of the gears is worn.
