Keypad not working during phone call

1. • 1 Turn on your Kyocera Qualcomm pdQ by pressing and holding the "Power" button until the welcome screen is displayed. If the keypad is open, press and hold the "Power" icon located on the right hand side of the phone's screen. Repeat the process to turn the phone off.
     
   • 2 Install the Palm Desktop Organizer software. Connect your phone's cradle to your computer and plug in the power cord. Remove your Kyocera Qualcomm pdQ from its cradle during installation. Exit any Windows programs on your computer. Put the Palm Desktop CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive. The installation screen will appear, click the "Install" button and follow the on-screen instructions.
     
   • 3 Perform your first information HotSync. Click the "Palm Desktop" icon on your computer's desktop. Click the "Sharing" button in the Windows taskbar to open the HotSync Manager, then click "Local." Turn on your phone and put it in its cradle. Open the Kyocera Qualcomm keypad, tap the "Sharing" button to open the HotSync menu and select "Local Sync." Enter your username on the computer and click "OK." When the sync is complete, a "Process Complete" message will display.
     
   • 4 Make a call with the keypad closed. Pull up the antenna on your Kyocera Qualcomm pdQ and wait for the signal strength icon to be displayed. Use the numeric keypad to enter the phone number. Press the "Send" button to make the call and the "End" button to hang up.
     
   • 5 Make a call from the call history on your Kyocera Qualcomm pdQ. Press the right "Smart Key" and use the "Up" and "Down" button to scroll through your call history until the desired number is highlighted. To see more information about the number, press the left "Smart Key." Press the "Send" button to make the call and the "End" button to hang up.
     

Does it have a battery backup? If so, after disconnecting the AC power adapter, remove the battery for 15 minutes, then re-insert it (make sure it is a good battery), plug the AC adapter back in, and try again. Hopefully, this will re-set it. If not, it probably isn't worth tryiing to repair. May have to buy a new phone.

When does it happen?
During Self test? Try this by unplugging the cable that connects to your tower and see if the self test runs. if it does, then your monitor still works. If it doesn't you might need to replace your LCD
During BIOS? If it works then your monitor still works. If it doesn't you might need to replace your LCD
During Windows? then you might need to adjust your display properties or reinstall your video card drivers.

Had the same problem with a LG Optimus 2X and tried every button but nothing worked until I locked the screen during a call and unlocked it, somehow this un-greyed the buttons for dialpad and I can now dial during a call (i.e. checking answer machine messages). Hope this helps

On the right hand side of the phone, in just about the middle, is the button that's used to lock the phone.
When you make a call, once the ringing tone can be heard, press this button and hold it in until the screen changes.
One of the options on the new screen will be keypad (bottom left). Another option will be loudspeaker.

u'll have to get the keypad checked ...because the connection b/w the buttons and the chipset does seem to be ok.

Keys 1-20 are speed dial keys. If speed dial is not set, message is displayed and manually entering the telephone number is prompted. Press STOP to clear.

Pressing FUNCTION accesses the menus associated with keys 1, 2, 3, and 4. After accessing a menu, the cursor keys, SET, and occasionally the telephone key pad are used for selecting options and setting values.

EG. Setting a speed dial number:
FUNCTION - DATA (01) - SET - SET - UP/DOWN to select speed dial number - SET - UP/DOWN to set number/name - SET - UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT/PHONE KEYPAD to enter value - SET

EG. Setting unit telephone number
FUNCTION - DATA (01) - DOWN once - SET - DOWN once - SET - PHONE KEYPAD to enter number - SET

EG. Retransmit from memory (assumes memory light is on)
FUNCTION - MEM (04) - DOWN once - SET - UP/DOWN to select document number (LEFT/RIGHT to view associated telephone number) - SET

EG. Delayed transmission
place document into feed - FUNCTION - TX (02) - SET - PHONE KEYPAD to enter time to send - SET - PHONE KEYPAD to enter phone number - SET - SET - document is scanned and will be transmitted at set time

This is obviously a phone company issue or a defect in GE fax machine keypad or circuitry. Last but not least turn off your machine at night. Turn it back on when you wake up.

you need to change the settings to "continous" or do a master reset of the phone to correct it

usually the default lock code is the last four of your phone number. try using that, then hit either ok, or send.
