I have a RAZR V3m also, that I bought at eBay. The slot everyone here appears to be referring to is for a micro SD card. The picture shows how the SD card is inserted. The original owners did not have an SD card installed. And the phone worked fine. Which seems to indicate the phone has an internal memory, probably a SIM card. Which is not user accessable. I'm guessing the phone has to be taken apart to get to the SIM. I'm going to be doing this in the next week or so. I'll check out the suspicious outline that problem 17 refers to first. I'll report back to this page my results.

Re: Location of SIM card in Motorola Razr
If your phone use sim card the card is locate in the battery comparment remove the back cover and there is the card if you want to remove the card remove the baterry first then push the card out with your fingers thats all ...good luck and rate me
Same problem with a RAZR V3m. Picture shows card next to battery but none is there nor is slot big enough to accept one. There is a suspicious outline of a card UNDER a sticker that was under the battery. Anyone think that its hidden there?
The Motorola Razr V3M does not have a sim card so that is an error message. What I had to do was turn the phone off and let it rest for a few minutes then turn it back on and now it's working fine. I had dropped my phone when the error message appeared so it might have dislodged the chip causing it to be discombobulated.

1. Turn the mobile phone off for a second and turn on, check if you have network signal. If still not working, try #2 2. Turn off the phone and remove the battery and sim from the phone for a couple of second. Return everything and turn on the phone. If still no network or no signal from you network provider, try #3 3. Turn off the phone and remove the battery and sim from the phone, insert the sim card to your other phone and check if you can make and receive calls and text messages. 4. Insert a your other sim card from your phone and check if you can do the same.
**With this, you can identify what needs to be repaired or replaced. (Sim card or Mobile Phone). If you cannot make and receive calls and text messages using no. 3 method, it is the sim card that has the problem and needs to be replaced. But if with #4, the phone has the problem and not the sim card. You need to contact your Service/Network Provider from technical help.
Thanks for using FixYa. If you have Motorola phone tools installed in your system, then you can directly copy the messages from the phone to your Computer. And, if you are unable to see the messages through the SIM card reader then the messages would be in the phone and not SIM.

Check whether there is any fluff, dust or grease on the SIM card contacts or on the contacts in the phone body. Also check that the SIM card is properly aligned and a reasonably tight fit in its housing
Hi when you take that back cover off take out the battery and look for where the sim card is located. It will be very small and slid into a little holder. Take that SIM card out and make sure that the contacts on it line up with the contacts in its Holder. If the SIM is not in right it will always tell you Insert SIM. These phones rely on that SIM Card for the Information and Other Settings they need to work properly.
If you still get that Insert SIM message then it is possible that your phone was not Programmed Properly at the Place You Bought it. Take it to them and they will fix it Free.
H2o, on the phone. It may still be saved. the only thing is that you may not have the tools to open the phone. the tools needed are a T-5 and T-6 for most V3. my best idea is to try to softly scrape the Sim Card reader Prongs/contacts. but please if you have never open a v3 don't try it. just take to your local service provider or to one of those guys with a accessories stand selling the face plate replacement @ the mall. they may not charge you anything .and cross your fingers so the micro resistors inside the phone did not fried, this happens if the phone was ON when it got water in it.
Hope this helps
