SOURCE: computer boots up shows windows xp and start up

Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

When i start Axis and Allies the screen flashes for about 15 seconds and then an error screen comes up that says that "the game tried to turn the resolution to 1024/768 but couldn't so it changed it back...

When I try to play Axis and Allies cd-rom '98 it's like the screen is too small for the game because there is no buttons or anything that allows me to end my turn. My monitor is pretty big too.

Black screen

If you have an onboard video card, that won't be enough to run the game. Try updating your graphics card. Here are the requirements to successfully run the game: suggested system requirements: Pentium III 1 GHz, 256 MB RAM, graphic card 32MB (GeForce 2 or better), 1.2 GB HDD, Windows 2000/XP

Processor

Not showing on the screen in the sense, is the Operating System [assuming XP] system properties window not showing the processor details? If its the case, generally some processors will have some issues with the Operating system. You can fix it by downloading some "hot fixes" from Microsoft.
Try this: 1.Open the "run" dialog box [Windows key + R] 2.Type "dxdiag" [without quotes] 3.Press enter. 4.You will be able to see the processor configuration in that window.
If not succesfull, please post. I will suggest another method.
