I have got an Epson Aculaser C1100 Laser printer. the old photoconductor unit was worn so I bought a refurbished guaranteed PCU off ebay. It looks fine and same as the old one. Fitted it in the slot and all I get is a red error light and a message saying "INSTALL PHOTOCONDUCTOR". I have tried turning it and back on off etc but still no good. Any ideas? Many thanks in anticipation, cheers Jon

Hi there
This suggests a fuser error. This is the hot unit at the rear top of the machine.
Steps are as follows:-
1. Open COVER FUSER.
2. Draw out the COVER RH boss from the hole on COVER FUSER while pushing
COVER RH outward, and remove COVER FUSER.
After removal check coninuity across heater lamp amd thermistor terminals. If either shows anyhing more than 13 Ohms then you need to replace your fuser unit.
Anything more than that requires hands on technical expertise.

no this is not a photoconductor problem. your fuser unit is faulty, it is not getting up to the correct temprature to "fuse" the toner to the paper hence why you are able towipe the toner from the page. Hope this helps Cops [email protected]

Did you removed all the packing materials from the PCU? Did you read all the instructions about setting up the machine and removing the packing pieces?
Have you removed the PCU as it suggested?

You can buy a new chip , empty the waste toner and then keep printing. Its only if the message is "replace photocnductor " though..
