I have a GE Adora dishwasher, about 3 years old, that has stopped cleaning the dishes. Ive noticed that the soap packs are no longer dissolving, either. I am thinking maybe the spinners arent spinning anymore...what would cause this? Am I going to have to get a new dishwasher (nooooooo!!!!!)?
The problem is insufficient water.
There are a few issues that cause this, and most are pretty easy to fix. Check this site for instructions and pictures:

This one is a known issue and an easy fix. Use a tie wrap to securely tie the water tube for the middle spray to the upper basket. That's it. Believe it or not, it's that simple. You may want to secure it at the front and the back. To test this you can use the tie wraps used to closed the plastic grocery or bread bags. If this solves the problem you can buy a bag of nylon tie wraps from any hardware store. I had a similar problem with another GE model with a similar problem. The dishwahser used to make a horrible grinding noise during the wash cycle. One I secured the middle sprayer arm the grinding noise went away.

The Water Inlet Valve is not Working. This is a small piece at the bottom of the dishwasher where the inlet hose connects to. The Valve is stuck and water will not enter the dishwasher itself. Of course this is one of the most expensive pieces of the dishwasher to replace!

I had the same problem with my GE Adora. The dishes were getting cloudy and the soap dispenser would not open. Turns out the hard water deposits were causing the soap dispenser to stick shut. I purchased and used Dishwasher Magic which is a dishwasher cleaner designed to remove limescale, rust and buildup. I used as directed and now my dishes are sparkling and the soap dispenser pops right open.

The make and model number can probably be found around the door edge (usually right side) If you can find it, post the make and mode # here.
Recommend you get a box of brand name detergent powder (like Electrosol or Cascade) and begin only using that. (Neve use gel or tablets) Cheap Cheap, generic detergent does not dissolve properly, leaves residue of its own and cleans poorly.
If problems continue, check the heating element as it is very possible that it has failed and the dishwasher needs to get to the proper temperature to activate the detergent. Also check to see if the holes in the spray arms are not blocked with debris.
If the heating element is working, then the wash pump motor has begun to fail and you need to decide to replace it or replace the entire dishwasher.

Our dishwasher is also not washing. It leaves big streaks of soap on the dishes on the lower rack, and the dishes on the top rack are still dirty! I read another post about cleaning the machine with "Dishwasher Magic", so I'll be trying that as soon as I can find it.
