Im psp is not working someone threw it and the umd door broke everytime i close it it makes a funny noise when i put a movie or a game in .but it wont play either one of them it just says its loading but it freeze up.

I believe the closing button is the problem. There is a small pin that when you close the backside of the psp, it will push the this pin to run the UMD game. If this is torn apart. You no longer play the UMD game. Despite that you can play still play games by putting PSP software games. mate make sure the case of your umd is correctyly placed and put your finger on the umd (where it spins) its like a little circle color silver move it with your finger and make sure it spins..

Is this happening with every UMD? If so the laser has gone bad. Google tutorials on how to replace it or have it replaced.

Try a different UMD, it might be scratched. If not, take a soft cloth, and clean the lens. Look on google to see where the lens are located.

Could be as simple as you put the UMD with wrong direction.

The UMD games are universal, which mean any game can be played on any psp. But the UMD movies are region specific, you can only play UMD movie with the region set according to your psp.

Clean the lasers lens with Glass Cleaner and a cotton swab. Do not use Alcohol, it will damage the lens. Also, I know they have UMD disc cleaner on Ebay. Another thing is to open the Internet explorer and click on the toolbox and delete cookies and offline files. This also may free up memory.

is it a scratching scrapping noise?

as some UMD cases, as in the plastic thing around the disc colapse or come apart this stops the disc spinning properly.

Check the plastic on the UMD... click any sides together that may be loose / or make sure the case isnt pushing on the disc.

Also open the PSP, hold it upside, gently shake it & blow into it.

Put the UMD back in & try again.
