Psp making funny buzz noise and not reading umd disks.

Sounds like the UMD drive died. If it makes sound like it is grinding it is having problems with reading the disk. One thing you can try is open the psp and look down in the slot. Take the drive head(the part that moves back and forth) and gently(and please be very gentle with it)push it down.

I had a Sony tech tell me to do this to mine and it worked. By the way, what model do you have and how old is it? what is the condition of the UMD you are playing?

mate make sure the case of your umd is correctyly placed and put your finger on the umd (where it spins) its like a little circle color silver move it with your finger and make sure it spins..

it sounds like the laser is out of adjustment you will need to send it in or if your warranty is still good have it warrantied

it might be that your lens that reads the psp is dirty so it cant read them

Buy a UMD disk cleaner this may help

failing that make sure system plays other discs or that the disc you are trying to play, plays in another PSP.

If it plays other discs fine its not the PSP its the disc.

If it doesn't then its the PSP that will need to be sent away for repair.

Certificate Utility" Online Instructions Manual" and "Remote Play These are all programs to help and verify ur psp, u cant delete them, and for ur umd , i had the same problem, simply enough all i did was backup my memory stick then do a complete reset, bringing all setings bak to how they were when i first bought the psp, funny enough it worked after that

I started to have this problem with the games that I play all the time. What I noticed is that the game starts to sink into the case. I got mine to play by first, pushing on the reading side of the disk. Later, I had to take the plastic front piece off that has the UMD label. You have to be careful because the actual UMD disk can come out after that. You also have to be careful because you don't want to crack the whit case that holds the UMD. I hope that this helps.
