Did you replace all 4 batteries? If not, Hokey Pokey Elmo takes 4 AA batteries:

If all 4 batteries are new, the problem may be with the circuit board or wiring.

This video of disassembling a Tickle Me Elmo may be instructive if you wish to open up your Hokey Pokey Elmo and check on the wiring and circuit board:

A blown circuit is rare unless someone tried to fix it and wired it wrong. It only takes a millisecond to blow a component if wired wrong. Same holds if a circuit gets wet ! The circuit itself is a small card. There are a few discrete components that are wired to the card. Check the connections. If you don't know exactly where the broken wire goes, don't guess ! It could be the end of Elmo as you knew him ! Get advice ! It could be the difference of a quick soldering and having to replace the entire unit. Don't be afraid of opening it up while just checking. Just put the screws back the way they came out.

Do it all with the batteries removed, please !

If the Device does nothing, it maybe the on/off switch. The batteries are obviously the first thing you checked, right?

If it talks; but, doesn't wiggle, its the oscillator connection.

If it wiggles but doesn't talk, it may just be the speaker wire.

If it talked but didn't wiggle and someone worked on it and now it does nothing, the person blew a component on the board. Most likely a capacitor. They don't take change in polarity very well ! The whole board is as cheap as the sum of its parts and labor.

If you get Hokey Pokey Elmo back to working properly, be sure to remove all 4 batteries when not in use and stored for a period of time, so that the batteries do not corrode and ruin Elmo.

i have a MacBook Pro that does not recognize or detects my galaxy note 3 phone. I have tried numerous times to download software form www.samsung.com/kies so I can sync data. I also purchased an app from iSyncr for iTunes and followed their directions and have the same problem. My lap top MacBook Pro does not detect my galaxy note 3. Please help.

Firstly you could just let him join in. Why not give him a mini bucket with some water in and a sponge and assign him a small section of the car to wash for you? But if you really want him out of the way how about bringing some of his outdoor toys ie bike, mini car etc and putting them next to the car so that he can do his own car washing. My friend even goes so far as to draw some marks with washable markers onto the cars and then gives her kids the task of cleaning it up. They love it and it keeps them busy for ages.

You are right - it's a great pretend play tool. You can buy a cash register and then some plastic pretend foods and set up a mini shop or restaurant at home. Not only is it great for their imagination but also good for learning to count money etc.

You are totally right. Pretend play doesn't need a big spending spree to make it fun. Kids just love using household items for their games. It makes them feel big and grown up. Here are some examples;
