We changed the batteries on
Hello Sarah
Normally when you connect a device to a usb port , the two devices do something called a handshake in which each device tells the other it is on and ready to receive data. This handshake is again broken when the device is safely removed in windows/your operating system.
Sometimes the problem can also be caused by power failure (like a low battery or unexpected ejection of the battery) as the dip in power affects the usb circuit into thinking it got a handshake.
The first thing I would like you to try is connecting the USB cable and then safely removing it in windows. Repeat this about 10 times and check to see if it sends a stop signal to the camera so that it goes of USB mode.
If that does not work , try removing the camera's batteries for the night and try it again tomorrow. This is in hope that the camera will reset as you are not able to access the reset in the software at this time.
Let me know by tomorrow if neither options worked and I will look for an alternative to sending it in for repairs.
Kind Regards
StephanSA
I have a V-Tech Touch and Learn Activity Desk Deluxe. How do I take it apart?
Hi there, there doesn't seem to be any specific information online for how to take it apart, but I've attached the user manual as a link to reverse the process. It seems you can easily remove the "shoulders" from the "base", all four legs can be detached easily, and the stool has removable legs as well.
Hope this helped.

My vtech vreader won't read the sd card. Tried everything posted on this site and more. Please help!
Hey there, seems like you've already tried many solutions.
May I suggest checking if the SD card has been formatted before its first use (check to see if your SD card is formatted as a FAT16 or FAT32 partition). I have attached a link with further details on doing this.
Also make sure your SD card is not in write-protected mode (the Lock switch on your SD card should be in the off position) and try again.
As well, make sure you have the most updated software on your device.
If nothing else works, I got the below text from the Vtech website.
"If you have a problem that cannot be solved by using this manual, we encourage you to visit us online or contact our Consumer Services Department with any problems and/or suggestions that you might have. A support representative will be happy to assist you. Before requesting support, please be ready to provide or include the information below:
• The name of your product or model number (the model number is typically located on the back or bottom of your product). • The actual problem you are experiencing.
• The actions you took right before the problem occurred.
