I have an acer iconia A500 tablet but get no sound coming from the speakers only when headphones are connected how do I get sound back coming from speakers without using headphones

The headphone jack needs to be replaced. Sound gets switched from speakers to headphone there. When the headphone plug is removed from the tablet the connection inside the jack is lost.

Looking for old Logitech S-100 driver

These are analog speakers and do not need a driver. First, make sure they're plugged into the speaker/headphone jack and not the microphone jack. Second, make sure the computer's sound output is enabled and set the headphone/speaker jack. Third, verify that the sound output is working by plugging in a headphone set or a different pair of speakers. If the computer sound checks out, the speaker cable is bad or the power supply is not working.

Why is the sound in one ear only?

It's probably a broken wire.

First, make sure it happens with those headphones no matter what you plug them into. If you're using them on your computer, try plugging them into your phone or someone else's computer. If you're using the quarter-inch adapter, try plugging into something that will take the eight-inch plug (the picture I'm seeing of your headphones shows an eighth-inch plug with a quarter-inch adapter). If the problems goes away, then it's either the adapter or the audio jack on the original device. But a new quarter-inch adapter online or at your local Radio Shack. If that doesn't fix it, then the jack on your device is shot, and your best bet is probably to get a new device. (Before I spent the money on a new device, I'd borrow another set of headphones, just to be sure that the problem persists no matter what headphones you use.) If the device is a computer, then you can buy a USB sound card (which plugs into a USB port and has mike and headphone jacks on the other end) instead of replacing the whole computer.

But it's more likely that the problem will persist no matter what you plug into, and it's your headphones. It's probably a broken wire; sometimes if you jiggle the wires going into the dead earpiece, you'll get crackling to confirm this diagnosis. But it doesn't really matter why the headphones don't work; no matter what's broken, the repair is more expensive than replacement. Time for new headphones.

The above answer assumes that you are listening to a stereo sound source. In addition to trying your headphones on another device, you should make sure you're listening to a stereo sound.

I am trying to hook up an LG surround sound LFD790 to my computer. Need some assistance please.

If your device already have a headphone jack input then you just need to plug it to your computer's speaker output. and if your device comes with coaxial type (red-white) wire, then you should probably purchase a converter -coaxial to headphone converter- Or buy an one piece wire with coaxial on the other end and headphone jack on the other.

Hope that gives you an idea and help you...

No sound from headphones. Speakers work. Win7

Please clarify, Where is the Headphones connected? Front or back? if you tried it on the Front port without success, Plug in the speaker jack to the port where you did connect the Headphone and verify it's working or not. You can also try the headphone on the port where the speaker is connected.

Awaiting.

Speakers do not work. Headphones work when plugged in

This is a known problem with the combo Analog + Digital (optical) audio jack on all modern macbooks. There is a microswitch inside the jack that detected the presence of a optical toslink connector and will disable the analog audio hardware if the switch is toggled. Due to a design flaw in the jack, sometimes simply plugging in regular headphones can cause this microswitch to toggle. While this is annoying, you can work around it if your mac is no longer under warranty.
There have been many internet group discussions about this issue and many have recommended inserting all sorts of small, thin devices in the jack to poke around and un-toggle that little switch. I personally find that too unsettling and will likely cause more damage than good. I have found that simply inserting and removing regular headphone jacks several times in quick succession will clear the fault. You can also try inserting the headphone jack and trying to wiggle it a little while in the jack. Be careful, the audio jack is surface-mount soldered to the motherboard. If you pull too hard, you can dislodge it from the logicboard and you WILL be making a trip to the apple store.
Next time you encounter this problem, turn your macbook such that you can look directly into the headphone port and look for a red glowing light. If you see that light, the port is in optical mode and that is why your speakers don't work.
With regard to the sound controller working... I disagree with the previous poster. These days the sound controller is integrated directly into the motherboard chipset and it is unlikely for that part to fail and not affect other capabilities. In the older days of Old World PowerPC macs, the audio engine was a separate set of chips, and controller failure was possible. Not so much these days.

I accidently plugged something into the Service UART and now my TV doesn't work. What can I do to fix it?

The Service UART is used to make internal adjustments or updates to your tv. It is intended to be used by service technicians only.

Since you accidently plugged something into it, it's possible that an internal component has been damaged. Your best option is to call a tv repair shop have have a technician check out your tv.

Hopefully, your tv hasn't been damaged and the tech can get it working again. At the very least, the tech will be able to tell you exactly what's wrong with it and what it will cost to repair it.

Can't mute inbuilt speakers

That is not a software problem.
The headphones/external speakers jack socket has a switch to exclude from audio the internal speakers, when a jack plug is connected.
This is a very simple device and is not software controlled.
The fact that it has gone faulty at the same time you reinstalled the system is a coincidence.
If it does not mute when you insert headphones, all you can do is trying to play with the jack plug , inserting and pulling it out. If this does not unlock the switch, the alternative is having the jack socket replaced by a technician. This is generally an expensive repair, asthe socked is soldered on motherboard.
A cheap alternative to a proper repair is using an external USB to Audio Adapter and mute the internal audicard when using headphones.
