I'd let it dry out totally then try it again, some of the electronics may have gotten wet when you defrosted it. Give it a week somewhere warm and dry like a garage. If you didn't attack built up ice in the freezer with a knife while defrosting it it should work after it dries out. Most people end up killing freezers by accidently poking holes in the evap coil while trying to remove built up ice.

you are trying my freind when the switch is opened it shows a reading of infinity which is normal what is it reading when its closed on the old and the new? Thanks I await your reply Rick

first of all are you sure its running correctly,if its overly hot to the touch is may sound like its running which it may be,but only on the start/run windings and if left this way it will burn out soon,it needs start/run windings to oppose the pressures inside the compressor to get it up to correct operating speeds,then the start winding cuts out of the circuit,this is where the ptc overload comes into play,as it does this sequence switching to make it operate correctly,just unplug it from the compressor and plug in a new one,also you may think you hear the compressor running,but its only the fans in the unit running,a compressor will run warm but shouldn't be overly hot to the touch,then if this isn't your problem,it could be an evaporator core blocked by ice and you cant get cold thru a solid block of ice so iuf its a self defrost model the defrost thermostat or defrost heater might be inopertive too

On all freezers there is an area either below or behind that resembles an automobile RADIATOR....this can become clogged with dust. Try unplugging and moving the appliance away from the wall and accessing either behind or beneath and vacuum-out all dust and debris. Replug or restart the freezer, plugging it in, and see if there is a difference. These types of refridgeration devices require the clear passage of air, circulating thru the cooling filters inside and outside of the freezer. Always have air-circulating around your freezers and fridge.

As a do it yourselfer you will not have the tools, knowledge or experience to check the precise amount of refrigerant. You would have to recover the refrigerant into a recovery bag to weigh the amount. However, if you put an ampmeter around the lead going to the common terminal of the compressor, you can determine if in fact the compressor itself is running, or trying to start itself. If it is running, yet not cooling enough or at all, you likely do have a leak of refrigerant, and to properly repair your freezer would be very expensive.

Get a saddle valve like THIS ONE. Sand down the suction line or compressor ear and attach the valve. Connect hoses to the valve and add some freon. The low side pressure should be around

This is a manual defrosting freezer so the most likely cause is the temp control. Sad that is is only 2 years old but the temp control is not working correctly.

It sure sounds like it is running until it cycles off at the "I reached the cold enough" SET TEMP then never starting up again. That start up is controlled by the temp control. Call and make SURE the temp control is called the thermostat!

Some freezers have a plastic drain plug on the side that can be removed, but most do not. I have found the easiest way is to **** up any water in the cavity with a shop vac or bath towels.

FYI: An authorized servicer is required to drain the refrigerant from the system and requires specialty tools.

Hi, you have made most out of the work by troubleshooting the freezer to identify the likely cause of problem associated with the freezer. If all you have said so far about the freezer is right, then it leaves me with no other option than to suggest that you have a low freon in the compressor which you probably need to refill for the freezer to start cooling again...

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. This freezer uses the chassis to dissipate heat so that the freezer can freeze. There is not a condenser fan. So what you have is a basic and usually trouble free freezer. If your freezer is not cold at the bottom of the unit there can be a couple of causes:

1. The compressor is running slow due to the rotor dragging on the compressor stator.

2. The PTC relay contacts on the compressor are getting hot and the compressor is shutting off before the temp control cycles the compressor off. Usually that is how PTC relays fail.. one hot contact and the unit cycles much more rapidly than usual and eventually the compressor stops running completely.

3. The system Freon has leaked out of the system and the unit is running on low pressure. (If this is the case the symptom will only get worse and very soon)

4. There is a very remote possibility of the cold control being damaged from an external bump by someone due to the fact that it is located outside the freezer compartment on the chassis.

Is your circulating fan working?
Sometimes they stick and need a shot of WD 40 and then work
it back and forth a little until it wants to take off again. Keep me informed
