Hello. The ink cartridge may not be seated properly in the carrier. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Close the cover. Clean the nozzles using a damp paper towel. Unplug the printer from the power source. Plug it back in after 10-15 seconds. When the printer asks for the cartridges, reinsert the cartridges. Also, make sure you're using the compatible ink cartridges for the printer. Let it print the alignment page all the way without cancelling it to align the cartridges properly. Hope this helps.

Ok....do you have an HP or a Lexmark? Doesn't really matter here, but please try to be specific and accurate when dealing with technical problems, makes our work, that we provide for free, easier.

The printer doesn't need an alignment, it likely needs a print head cleaning. Run a few cleaning cycles from the printing preferences and see if it fixes it. If not, just buy a new black cartridge and you should be fine, assuming you actually have the X2470. If not, repost with more details.

If you give the middle section of your printer a lift you will notice it opens and inside you will see two slots: one for black ink cartridges and the other for color. Click down and lift the slot you wish to fill with ink and close slot (you should hear a click sound after slot is closed)

They still give me free support on my 1020 and it's been out of warranty for years.

Did you:
1) Verify that there is a Win 7 driver for this printer on the www.lexmark.com site.

2) If there is a driver, you must download the driver.

3) Remove the old driver.

4) Install the new driver.

It is imperative that the old driver is removed prior to the installation of the new driver.

uninstall the driver and softwares related to the printer, also uninstall the device from the device manager, then reinstall all back as the setup for the printer would require.

make sure that printer is the default printer and check the port settings. go to start>control panel>printers and faxes>right click on the printer>properties>ports tab

make sure that it is set correctly

In this case you can try one thing open a document and then click on print then go into advance or preferences and check the option that says print as image and try to print

Install your cd for printer into your drive, plug power cord for printer in but do not connect usb cable to computer, run your software to install drivers for printer, software will tell you when to connect usb cable to cable, follow software instructions you should be able to use printer when done.
