Video viewer

I would download TCPMP(core) player. This is a free player. There is a newer commerical version of it as well. There are other good video players as well but TCPMP is free and plays full screen. It will resize the video right up to to point where your lifedrive starts compaining a bit. As an experiment I tried a full size dvd movie. It played it, wasn't happy, wasn't nice to watch but it played it. On most other videos you will use it will maintain proper speeds without problems.

This link should get you to the download for the player but if not just search for "TCMCP player Palm" and you should find hundreds of locations to download from.

Enjoy

Lifedrive wifi

Does the wifi work at all after it resets? Have you applied the level 2 palm srvice pack to the LD? I believe the update changes how the wifi operates. If you go to www.palmone.com and go to the lifedrive page you should see a list of downloads for it. If you click on the 2.0 update there is a description of how to tell if you need this or if it is already installed. You just need to check the version of one file. Download and install the patch and see if that fixes everythng.

If that doesn't fix it you may have a more serious problem that could require replaceing or fixing the LD

Lifedrive sick

Try a hard reset and if that doesn't work ( the erase program hangs up), then your hard drive is dead and must be replaced.

Dead; will not boot up

I to have the same problem. Palm will switch a refurbished on to me for $175. To talk ot their tech support will cost $25. I have decided to do 1 of 2 things. 1. replace the microdrive with a 4Gb Compact flash and if that is not successful, just throw it away and NEVER get another Palm product. Mine died just after the warranty ran out. 12 months plus a few days.

My Lifedrive won't boot up

Seems the LifeDrive Micro Drive is the killer on these Palms. Mine did the same thing and after extensive online research I found that the micro drive can be replaced with a Compact Flash card which is much more reliable. Apparently there are only certain CF cards that work with the LifeDrive though. I have found at least one retailer that sells a compatible CF preloaded with the Lifedrive software. The route I took for repair was to send it out to a guy that advertises his service on eBay. You send in the LifeDrive, he diagnoses it for $5, and can install the CF card with software for $89 (he waives the $5 if you have him fix it). I am looking forward to getting mine back in permanent working order! Here is the link:

Versamail Errors

hi first of all here are Support Knowledge Library links: http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,case=obj(39328) there are two main reasons your mail will not get sent from VersaMail: 1) The outbound email server is not allowing your mail through. The server thinks your email is SPAM. Go to the section on Outgoing Mail server issues: http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=95,E=0000000000299122694,K=3846,Sxi=5,useTemplate=Case.tem,CASE=39211#outgoing 2) You have entered some of the information incorrectly in your setup and need to check for typos and verify the settings with your ISP or carrier. follow all the instructions home page: http://www.palm.com/us/support/lifedrive/ good luck

Copying MP3s using Drive Mode

yup! soft reset and all was fine but looked pretty grim for a moment. Happened to me when i put the SD/LD icons into the trash (mac osx) before I hit the first 'turn off drive mode' page rather than hitting 'turn off' button, then trashing the icons, then hittinf turn of drive mode button. Is this in the manual....nope!

Blazer Speed

Blazer does have a cache, but I'm not sure exactly how it uses it. I did an experiment in an attempt to find out how much of a page it caches, but I didn't learn a lot. I went to a page, then jumped to another, then turned WiFi off. When I hit the "Back" button, the LifeDrive refused to open the page without me reactivating WiFi. Still, I can tell the cache is working. When I go to a site with lots of graphics, the first page opens kind of slowly. However, when I go to other pages on that site that have the same graphics, pages load more quickly. So, apparently at least some parts of a page go into a cache, but you can't view it entirely from the cache. Also, the delay in opening pages is often not the downloading of a page, but the rendering of it once it is downloaded. The cache can't help you there.

Hard reset

1 Hold down the power (on/off) button on your device. 2 While holding down the power button, turn over your device so that you can see the back of it. Still holding the power button, use an unfolded paper clip or a similar small object, to gently press the RESET hole on the back. 3 When the Palm Computing Platform or Palm Powered logo appears, release the power button. 4 A message will appear warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your handheld.

Frontal buttons pressed through cover

Your problem with the default case is common. Frankly, it is poorly designed. What I did (before I bought a replacement) is switch the power to the locked position when I put it in the case. To perform a hard reset, push the reset button while holding up on the 5-way.

Lost files - due to soft reset?

just check your PalmOne folder, see if anything there, i.e., : C:\Program Files\palmOne\\Internal Drive Backup *********************** well, a hard reset should be able to restore to LD new-out-of-the-box state, if you don't need to save any corrupted files in LD drive... But if they are something really important, what you can do is to copy whatever files out to a PC (i.e., via drive mode on a PC), and see if you can recover it with data recovery apps, or better yet, do it straight on the LD drive - although the chance of success is slim. What you described on previous post, sounds like the FAT table has messed up, and seems very similar to a PC HDD failure.

Accessing XHTML Web Pages

You'll need a 3rd party WAP browser (note: not WAP PDA. Both PPC and Palm powered device can do this as long as they have the application for it.) The web browser it comes with I don't think it is WAP compatible. Though I have no experience with any of them, I'm sure there are a few out there as shareware/freeware for PalmOS.

Memory and blazer

There are three types of storage on your handheld: the hard disk, an expansion card (if you have one), and the actual main system memory. Are you sure you have freed up the main system memory? That is the only one that counts in this case. If it is filled with programs, move those programs to one of the other types of memory. This is easiest to do with a launcher like ZLauncher. Your memory may be fragmented. Have you tried a soft reset?
