Aiwa Z-HT65 Shelf System - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

I own a NSX-MT960 and the same thing happen , DEAD DISPLAY.

I just happen to be retired Certified Electornic Tech and Held a FCC first class ticket, and own a tv-vcr -stereo repair shop that worked on all brands,

I had to fix alot of items WITHOUT THE HELP of a schematic diagram and got to be pretty good at it,

THIS HAPPENED about 7 or 8 years ago, but it still may help somebody,

THE DISPLAY IS A VACUUM FLOURESCENT and has a low voltage heater circut to heat it up like old vacuum tube, AIWA PUT IN A SURGE CURRENT LIMIT RESISTOR about a 1/2-1 watt unit with LOW OHMS, I FORGET NOW BUT a 1 watt .5 ohm resistor will fix it, OR JUST JUMP IT for a short time to test, but put that thing back in, better to burn out that resistor than the heater circuit in the display.

HOPE THAT HELPS

RETIRED TELEVISION REPAIR ENGINEER THAT TROUBLE SHOT DOWN TO THE COMPONET LEVEL< NO BOARD CHANGER HERE!!

THAT WAS THEN < THIS IS NOW, NOW YOU HAVE TO CHANGE BOARDS DUE TO SMD WAVE SOLDERING , YOU WILL RUIN A PCB WITHOUT TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF DESOLDERING EQUIPMENT.

BEST REGARDS

Some guesswork here. If the remote control is specific for the receiver, it should work without any set up required. Just any old Aiwa remote control may not have the necessary code.

It needs cleaning and adjusting. The lubricant has dried out.

check first power supply

Probably something else.
The buzzing is typical of an open circuit input "receiving" radiated 50/60 Hz from nearby mains wiring.
An alternative source of buzzing is the 50/60 Hz mains breaking through into the audio due to failed smoothing and filtering in the power supply.

Capacitors that have been unused for quite a while can lose condition and fail when put into use again and this might have been the cause of the thump/thud/boom you noted.

I doubt it is the cause but it is very unwise to operate an amplifier without a full complement of speakers unless the volume is kept at minimum...

The tape player portion is defective, though new. Many of the site moderators have had that experience.

You would have to open the unit and check for signal right before headphone plug.

It work as a simple twist action. That small, dark plastic part right in the centre will turn, possible with a small flathead screwdriver.

Hi JACQUELYN MOORE, so you say you have problems in the function control system, you might have some of the keys locked and that does not answer any other
Check all the keys and see if any are locked
and comment

Hola JACQUELYN MOORE, por lo que comentas tienes problemas en el sistema de control de funciones, puede ser que tengas alguna de las llaves trabadas y eso hace que no te responda ninguna otra
Revisa todas las llaves y ver si alguna esta trabada

Hello Emmett, for what you know, it is very possible that the contact that drives the engine has been stuck or stuck, that's why it's still working, you'd have to remove the bottom cover of the tray, with the power cable unplugged and find the key in question and unlock it
If you have technical knowledge, he sent you the service manual,
but go to a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the problem
Greetings Franco Dosil

Saludos Franco Dosil
