I have an Aiwa Amd-218 mini hi-fi but somehow, every time I turn it on, I get blasted with the volume on 16. How do I set it to a lower level?

There is likely a small battery on the motherboard that saves the last setting. The equivalent of the BIOS Battery in a computer. It probably needs replacing. No Service Manual on file :>( https://www.google.com/search?q=aiwa+amd-218+service+manual+pdf ..

Aiwa AV-D57 , it has

assuming something isnt blown it sounds like you are having the same problem as me. when you remove the top of the of cover of the unit you will need to look in the back left hand corner of the unit where the power cable comes in. next to the fuse is a small black box that has a relay inside. you will need to remove the outside cover of this relay. make sure the power is unplugged on the unit before you go playing around the 120v input area, but once the power is removed, you will need to remove that cover. you should be able to get it with your fingers, but if not grap it with a pair of needle nose or something. more than likely the cover will crack if not break into a million pieces due to being brittle from years in the heat of your amp. its ok if it does. inside of this you will see a small relay which looks like a coil of small copper wire. on the top (side opposite the board it is connected to) is a silver piece of metal and if you push down on it, it should move like a lever causing two small copper pieces to the left to make contact. (warning: if you know about electronics and relays skip to the next paragraph) basically the coil of wire is an electromagnet. when you try to turn on the unit it powers that electromagnet pulling the shiny piece on top down as long as the unit has power forcing those to copper pieces together, which allows voltage to pass through the circuit just like flipping a light switch.Your relay is too weak for whatever reason to force the circuit shut and will either click one good time or maybe a couple of times. you may even find that if you keep hitting the button it will come on eventually. unless you are good at soldering and want to waste the money I dont suggest replacing the relay. what I did for the cheapest fix possible was use some electrical tape and wrapped it around the relay forcing the contacts permanantly closed. Now be warned that if something else is wrong with your unit, or you short something in the future you may or may not have the type of protection you would normally have because this relay will not open. it may just blow the internal fuse if something shorts, it may fry the unit. I cant say for sure, because I havnt had that happen. so avoid shorting things or throwing bits of metal shavings and screws inside the unit while powered and you should have a working unit.

Unit clicks but won't turn on

I had a problem with my av-d67 and found the solution on the av-d57 web site. The led on the front came on but unit would not power up. The site suggested removing the cover and finding a little black box behind the power supply and under the fuse. By pulling the box from the front, it easily came off, and exposed two silver contacts. Slightly bending the left conteact until it made constant contact with the right contact made the unit come and it's been working fine since. Your site was great. I was ready to scrap the unit thinking expensive repairs were in order. Whole repair took less than ten minutes. Hope this helps others with the same problem. Thanks for your help and your web-site.

How to adjust AIWA Turntable PX-E860U speed

Found this post trying to troubleshoot my Aiwa PX-E860U-after replacing the belt and lubricating bearings, the speed was off. 33 setting was playing slow. Here's the fix: 1. unplug and flip upside down 2. Locate the two holes marked 33 & 45 where black dots are visible underneath 3. Using a very small flat screwdriver(I used one from an eyeglass repair kit), adjust the speed clockwise for faster, counterclockwise for slower this is a DIY solution, so not perfect, but it works. I played the tracks along to a Spotify recording to get a good match. Hope this helps someone else!

Where can i get a owners manual for an AIWA home stereo system model number cx-nma845?

ManualsLib has the manual here: https://www.manualslib.com/products/Aiwa-Cx-Nma845-5886493.html . SearsPartsDirect also has the manual here: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/manual/1m0bt3vgnd-001547/aiwa-nsx-ma845-compact-stereo-system-parts . Note: the system model number is NSX-MA845; this includes the front, center and surround speakers. The CD stereo cassette receiver is CX-NMA845. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Aiwa CX-ZHT63 Display Trouble

I own a NSX-MT960 and the same thing happen , DEAD DISPLAY.

I just happen to be retired Certified Electornic Tech and Held a FCC first class ticket, and own a tv-vcr -stereo repair shop that worked on all brands,

I had to fix alot of items WITHOUT THE HELP of a schematic diagram and got to be pretty good at it,

THIS HAPPENED about 7 or 8 years ago, but it still may help somebody,

THE DISPLAY IS A VACUUM FLOURESCENT and has a low voltage heater circut to heat it up like old vacuum tube, AIWA PUT IN A SURGE CURRENT LIMIT RESISTOR about a 1/2-1 watt unit with LOW OHMS, I FORGET NOW BUT a 1 watt .5 ohm resistor will fix it, OR JUST JUMP IT for a short time to test, but put that thing back in, better to burn out that resistor than the heater circuit in the display.

HOPE THAT HELPS

RETIRED TELEVISION REPAIR ENGINEER THAT TROUBLE SHOT DOWN TO THE COMPONET LEVEL< NO BOARD CHANGER HERE!!

THAT WAS THEN < THIS IS NOW, NOW YOU HAVE TO CHANGE BOARDS DUE TO SMD WAVE SOLDERING , YOU WILL RUIN A PCB WITHOUT TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF DESOLDERING EQUIPMENT.

I have a Aiwa av-x120 receiver and aiwa Rc-ar01 Remote control. What is the code for the remote control for the receiver and how do you sent up

Some guesswork here. If the remote control is specific for the receiver, it should work without any set up required. Just any old Aiwa remote control may not have the necessary code.
