If the screen is black and the sound is working, it sounds like possibly one of your cables might have worked loose. I would check them all, and make sure no one accidentally took one off and put it in the wrong place (kids?) or maybe someone bumped into them and one is loose. Or, depending on how you have it all set up (there are ways to get sound without picture) it is possible your source is set incorrectly and you can still have sound.

I have the same problem now..Where you able to fix your problem? I bought a universal remote but it won't work.

Try going to menu and finding sound or audio and scroll down to caption and switch to off.

Sounds like a version of closed captions. Go to menu section and make sure closed captions is off

Was it working befor you got it off your friend???

The issue with these TV's are the boards internally go bad, for Power the three capacitors get round at the top and either you replace the whole board from SVA fro 300.00 or buy three capacitors and replace them

The only remote that works is the one 4 all. Call ONE 4 ALL for the right model number. They then can program the remote on the phone to operate the SVA tv. It worked for me until the set died this week. Guess why I am looking on this site.

Switch to Air, or ASTC in Menu, re-scan. If it's cable, switch to cable, re-scan.

Closed caption function is On. Turn it OFF.

If it is a burn our then the panel is kaput, otherwise, it must be the inverter.

The axles may have substantial amount of in/out play, 1/4 inch or more. Does the axle in question actually drive the wheel or does it freewheel?It's a typical differential so if you get both wheels off the ground and spin one wheel, the other wheel should rotate in the opposite direction.The axles are retained by the differential assembly (inside transmission) so if the axle is truly falling out, to fix it will require transmission be removed and opened. Probably not an economical repair unless you can DIY or replace with good used unit.

Check the internet connection. The television can't update if it can't see the internet. Resetting it breaks the previous settings. Just for fun, reboot the router as well and wait 15 minutes until all the lights come back on. Then reestablish the television connection to the router.
