My car overheated yesterday. I pulled over and let it cool down. I opened the hood of my car and there was lot's of steam. It cooled down and I drove it home. I just started it to see what's wrong. I drove it around the corner after the car got warm, and I noticed that the heat was cold. What is that a symptom of?

Thats due to low or no coolant, you shouldnt drive this overheating engine damage will occur, the first thing is to fill the radiator up, and look around for any leaks, if no leaks are seen, then start engine and allow it to warm up, leave cap off at first to top off coolant, after a few minutes install cap and let it run, keep an eye on the temp gauge and also watch for leaks. this problem is due to a coolant leak, maybe a hose is bad or it was low on coolant or you have a bad thermostat, good day.

My x585 overheating if I hose down the radiator it cools down but I don't know why it keeps overheating.

if its overheating but staying cool at radiator then its more likely to be a failed thermostat, the thermostat should open up to let more water though to cool engine down, if it becomes faulty it does not open so there is inadequate flow and courses on over heat. and weak part is the header tank, it can also cause rubber pipes to pop or split. and blow the head gasket, so don't drive until thermostat is checked and changed, air in system should be released but the header tank it has a valve fitted to let off steam,

My Honda prelude starting to smoke yesterday. I believe it is steam. I saw green liquid on certain parts under the hood. It wasn't a lot but when I came to a stop and turned off the car it was noticeable....

i recommend you don't drive to far and get a mechanic too check it out as you risk overheating and blowing the head gasket which is expensive. You need to get the cooling system pressure checked too find the leak and rectify it. hopefully just a hose but possably a water pump.

My 2000 Jaguar S Type has the check engine light on, it flashes when I drive on the highway, and when I shut the car off it takes a long time to cool down. Also I put antifreeze in the car yesterday and...

O.K. from what you just described- Miss fire on #6 and loss of coolant(it does not just disaper) I'am afraid that these two items are most likely related, along with the fact that it took along time to cool down. It sounds like the coolant is being lost thru#6 cyl thus causing the misfire and the overheating- which turns the light on. Sorry but i am afraid that you may just be spending a lot of $$ Take it to a mechanic and get a second oppinion first.

Overheating problem, reduced top speed

Your cooling system needs to be looked at, also,,if your engine is really overheating badly this could be causing your transmission problems.
Aside from that,,i would have the transmission checked also,,just in case.
