Ford has a bulletin on problems with the IAC ( Idle Air Control) sensor on the lincolns for the same problem u r describing. I wonder if they are the same?
Take it to Advance auto parts if you have one nearby. They have a code scanner they will loan you to do this. It is really easy to use. They will help you connect it.
if you do not already know the factory code, the only way it can be obtained is by your local ford dealer. the proprietary computer equiptment they have can access the code that is programed in vehicles security module. if you purchased it used..it is often that the keyless entry code id card is still withe the owners manual..it is a 5 digit code printed on an credit card sized card that is white in color..i hope this helps you...good luck
