I have a 1992 Lincoln continental and it's pouring out oil I think the gasket needs changed but I want to know how to change it without taking the whole engine out is there a way?

Firstly it is important to discover where the oil is leaking from - it is the nature of oil leaks that they rarely are from where they first appear to be from and it sometimes saves a great deal of wasted time, effort and money not to make assumptions.

A wash is required and then run the engine for a short time and view the area with a strong light to pin-point the spot where the leak emerges. In cases where visibility is limited a dye can be added to the oil and leaks searched for with a UV light.

Once the site of the leak is discovered it is then time to start asking why it began to leak. Gaskets and seals tend not to fail for no reason, though age can be a big factor. Running hot, using an oil incompatible with the rubber seals used on the engine or perhaps excessive crankcase pressure due to a blocked engine breather or excessive piston blowby are a few things to check for.

I have snapped off the orange plastic end of my oil dipstick which is still in the sump of the car. It is a Bentley Continental GT 2004. Is it safe to drive or start the engine please? Steve

yes, its plastic and plastic doesn't last a life time in acidic hot oily conditions... so yes in an emergency if you had to drive it, i wouldn't see anything major happening,,,but little bits of plastic will be breaking of as time goes by and it could possible clog up an oil pickup line.then you might have a problem...always keep an eye out for oil pressure light...if it comes on, it might be due to that piece that broke off. you definately dont want to drive the car with the oil pressure light on...get off the highway and to nearest service station.

Brake light

Usually it means the handbrake is pulled up while you are driving the car. Have you noticed the car just isn't as zippy as it should be, or a hot smell from the rear of the car when exiting, or overly hot brake pads? Those are signs the brake is engaged.

If that is not the case then it could be a malfunction of the indicator. In either case it should be looked into as an engaged emergency brake can turn into a brake or rotor job if it's not addressed.
