When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer or on floor

Should water dispenser work as soon as refrigerator is installed?

Only if it was properly hooked up to the water lines that should be where refrigerator is hooked up.

Hi, I have a refurbished RFG297AARS from Samsung that we purcased as a refurb about 7 days ago. On day 1-3, a puddle of water formed under the back right underside of the fridge, without the water line...

Chances are its either the drip line or drip tray.. there is a drain to route the condensation pulled out of the fridge and freezer that leads to a drip pan underneat the unit.

Either the drip tray was not installed.. reinstalled incorrectly or the drain tube is leaking or no longer directed to it, or it's overflowing due to excess condensate.

Best of luck!

you need to check the flapper in the door where the ice comes out,, if you take the ice bin out look down in the hole where the ice comes out,, if it is not sealing good it will let warm air come up the chute and melt the ice,, if it is sealing good,, then you need to check and see if the water fill tube( the one that goes into the icemake) is not froze up or has asomething blocking it
