I have a paper jam in my MFC -7420. I removed a sheet from the back but there is more stuck in the front. The message says to open front cover and remove drum. I have opened the front cover but cannot remove the drum. I held down the blue lever on the left side and tried to lift and remove the drum but it won't budge. I'm being careful not to use force. I can see the paper but have no chance of removing it with removing the drum. thank you

Don't try to remove the drum by itself while it's still in the machine,
just simply remove the drum and toner cartridge together.

There is no lock you should just be able to pull the cartridge out.

Text on the display: back cover open, close the Back Cover we close the cover but no results

If you turn the printer off and then back on when there is a paper jam in it you will get this error message instead of a paper jam message. To clear the paper jam from the back of the printer read the instructions from here: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/us/us/en/faq/faq/000000/000600/000096/faq000696_001.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc7420_all&Cat=11

MFC 7420 front paper jam

First you need to clean up your printer with duster and after thatn, check the toner and drum to see any paper jam or anything wrong,
Normally after you clean up the machine, should working fine,
if still not working, please replace the rubber roll.

Message on brother MFC7420 "back door open" when it's not

Actually, you need to double check the back cover and front cover, open them all to check all paper jam.
Besure to check the back cover, normally all paper jam is from the back.
be sure to close the front cover at the last cover to close.
