Its not the starter thing, there is a problem on your HDTV power supply section, a problem or symptom like what you said is a component malfunction. Any component that becomes defective most on the part on the power supply system will only bring your HDTV on standby mode and nothing more. A qualified service technician could repair such problem. Over doing it and take chances that your HDTV will gonna work would bring more problem. So, call your electronic service technician or bring it to your nearest service center.

StARTER... ok thats a new one to me... ive repaired lots of these at the shop. first question? does the front panel led comes on and lights green? does it flash? the clicking is an indication that the main relay is trying to come on then something in the set a voltage or a current is not right and the processor is shutting it down. So this also means its more than a simple fuse. Second question .. do you hear a high voltage static type sound. The first thing we look at in the shop would be the High voltage horzontal output transistor. (this might be what somebody called the starter although never heard it called that) along with that the High voltage Flyback transformer. Ive repair many of these. Please for safety sake get a tech to check this.
Does anyone have a guesstimate of what this will run me moneywise? Is it worth it?
Okay answer to the 1st question is yes the front panel led comes on & lights green yes it flashes. 2nd question I personally have not heard the high-voltage static sound but if you mean that whine it does like it is trying to start then yes it does it 3 times and then shuts off. So if it is what you are guessing & have fixed many times if I take it in what's it gonna run me to fix it?
