My multi function Samsung scx-4100 3 in 1 printer will not scan. I have installed it but when I click on the program on my desktop it goes to smarthru 4 window opens and I see four pictures Scan to, Image, Copy and Print. All I want to do is scan to but it will not scan. A box comes up with a big red cross to the left of the box over the printer picture and in the middle it states logitech camera, with ok underneath. So I do not know what to do I have repairs the system to check if it is all connected.

My connection is via a parallel to parallel cable, and I am also having a similar problem. I'm reading that usb to usb cable is the only way it will properly function. good luck with it!

In the SmartThru application, find the devices connected list (usually on the upper right corner at the main screen). Select the SCX-4100 from the list, since this software will work with many scanners. After selecting the unit, close and restart the program.

scanning from any device is simple you need three things 
   user name   bill    password    piguine    path            \\server\scans\shared folder
the scanner needs rights to write to  a folder on the network..  good luck
