Ok seems like 1 of 2 things,,, firstly check your print settings and ensure your selecting the correct try to print from..
turn off machine
might be a stuck sensor, turn off machine look at where u load the paper, close to where the printer pulls it up, there is a small leaf swith there that tell the printer if it has or dont have paper, play ith the switch a bit.. Then turn back on and try again.
more than likely it is.. Its eighter that or the feed tray is braken (thats the gears thats pulls paper) hopefully its the sensor, play with the mpt feed switch as well
to the back here the paper is pulled into the machine.
I cant because u am not sure of the exact position but it should be within that location. While you looking for the switch, check the paper feed rollerd in the back (the one that pulls the paper up) see if that is loose or rocking!

Playing iwth the leaf switch gets me closer and to a different error message of "put letter paper in the mpt", but I already have letter paper in the mpt. If I wiggle the paper, the printer prints a defective sheet (top margin is 2.75 inches below what it should be) and I get the error message again. Could it be a sensor on the mpt feed? I hear a new grinding sound when printing that suggest the printer is trying to do something around the mpt feed.
Where do I find the mpt feed switch?
can't find it. Can you give me any more specific location?
