Goldstar GR542WV refrigrator is not cold in both the freezer and the storage compartment.

The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer or on floor
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

sounds like the cold coil is freezing up and this is a defrost problem.. ck the defrost themo/ and the heater . / may also be the defrost timer . but every 3 mo ( i would think the defrost terminator is failing .. ) mm

make sure the compressor is working first,if not then replace the ptc overload on the compressor,if you have had lights blow out in the refrigerator section and theres a chattering/clicking sound in the rear and the new lights strobe dimly and the digital temp read-outs are dark,then its the main board in the rear thats bad

Are the evaporator coils in the freezer frozen up?
The evaporator is located behind the cover in the back of the freezer.
If so this may be a defrost issue.
The adaptive defrost timer may have failed.
This is located in the ref. side inside the front control pannel.

If not then you may have a freon leak.
This would have to be repaired by a qualified technician.

The fan in the freezer blows the air through the vent and it returns to the freezer through another vent at the bottom. Make sure both are clear and open.

if this is the problem please check the condensor of the refrigerator for its enough refrigrant.

try defrosting it manually. unplug it and let it sit with the doors open for about 4-5 hours and make sure the doors close and seal all the way.
