Dell 19" LCD E196FPf monitor

  • Anonymous Mar 02, 2011

Received the capacitors from LCDAlternatives today in the mail, put all of them in the monitor, tested, and it is currently working again. Thanks for your help. My power supply board looked just like the one on LCDAlternatives web site for this monitor. I only noticed 1 bad one, but it was just as easy to replace them all while I had it open, rather than hunt and peck at it.

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

The on/off of pc monitor (LCD) is blinking.

Most LCD monitor (depends on the brand) power indicator light will either turn from Green to Amber, or flashing Amber, or flashing green, when it does not detect video signal feeding it. So it may be normal with your monitor. Are you haivng problem with the display? If it displays he pictue OK then there is nothing to worry about.

Moniter won't turn on/power light blinks green

Yeah, I called Dell yesterday, and they said it was a problem that I could not fix myself. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but my monitor was still under warranty, so they shipped me a replacement right away. I already got it this morning.

FYI: Their monitors carry a three year warranty.

Black Screen

The blinking green power indicator means the unit is trying to startup but failing. You can try replacing filter caps in the low voltage power supply.
