    I can help you set this up step-by-step but I need to know whether you are connecting the Freeview box to the TV with a co-axial cable or a SCART cable and the brand and model number of your TV would also be useful. Please reply to me from within this page with these details and I will respond immediately. Thanks, BElectric

    Thank you. I am writing the instructions for you now. You will need to scroll down this page a little further to read them. It will take me about 15-20 minutes to write this out for you.

OK - please follow these instructions carefully to setup the Freeview box. If you get stuck at any point in the instructions - or anything I've said doesn't make sense or match what you can see - just post another message here and I'll deal with each problem as it arises.

1. Switch the TV and Freeview box to STANDBY. There should be a red light on the Freeview box;
2. Connect the aerial cable to the freeview box. Make sure you are connecting this to the correct socket. This should be labelled "RF IN", "IN" or "Aerial/Antenna". If you have connected to a socket marked "RF/TV OUT" or "TO TV" or something similar, it wont work;
3. Connect the SCART cable to Freeview box and the back of the TV;
4. Switch the TV on;
5. Switch the Freeview box on - you should get a green light on the front of the box;

Most TVs will automatically switch to the external input when a SCART device is switched on while the TV is already on. This is why you should switch the TV on first.

At this point you should be able to see the installation / setup screen for the Freeview box displayed on your TV. If you cannot see this:

A. Press the INPUT button once on your SAMSUNG remote control once. This is the button in the top-right corner of your remote control.
B. If you still cannot see the installation / setup screen, press the MENU or SETUP button on the remote control supplied with the Freeview box.

The instructions from this point forward will be different if you had to press the MENU / SETUP button on the Freeview remote before anything appeared on the TV screen. If this Freeview box has been used before the installation screen will not appear, but you will get at on-screen menu after pressing the MENU / SETUP button. If this happens, please let me know and I will provide alternative instructions for setup.

Assuming you have been able to access the installation screen, it should be easy enough to follow the instructions on screen from this point. Use the UP / DOWN / LEFT / RIGHT arrow keys on the Freeview remote to highlight the relevant options and then press OK / SELECT to choose that option.

I don't want to make this too complicated by providing alternative instructions for every possible scenario. Please run through the instructions above and make sure you are getting an installation screen or "menu/list" displayed on the TV. If you need further instructions from there, I will provide them in another message.

Good luck - I'll await your reply.

Regards,
BElectric

    Wow! Thank you - you are most welcome. I assume this means you have at least got it working?

    I'd like to be able to supply a new manual for you but I don't have one and they're not available for download from the manufacturer or retailer. I've had a look to see whether another user has uploaded a copy anywhere, but I was unable to locate one. I've installed quite a few Freeview boxes in the last few years including one or two of these and there is little difference between most of them. Therefore, I'm able to provide general instructions for you, but can't be 100% specific about certain parts.

    As an alternative to a manual, I will write some basic instructions and a few tips and post them here for you later today. In the meantime, if there is anything not working correctly or you have any specific questions, please post them here and I will answer them at the same time.

    I appreciate your kind words and acknowledgement. It is these that make doing this worthwhile.

    Thanks,

    BElectric.

I can not set up my freeview on my samsung 52 inch LCD can u help me step by step as I hav no instructions thanks

Plug your aerial into the freeview box. Connect a scart lead from the freeview box to your TV and switch on.
The freeview box, if new, will search for channels itself and as your TV will recognise that it is plugged in, will auto switch to the freeview box.
If it is not new, select menu on the freeview box and follow the instructions for tuning.
There is nothing to tune on your TV as you are using a scart lead.
Hope that helps.

Iv plugged a areial into the tv and a freeview digital box but i cant get a picture????

If you see the freeview box menu then the TV is not the issue.
If you can not see the freeview box menu then the TV is either not connected to the input correctly or the TV is not on the correct input. I little common sense goes a long way , use a DVD player or other device to check the inputs yellow is video in red and white are audio. If the inputs work with a DVD player and not the freeview box then the box is defective .

Cant get my bt vision [freeview] to come on. my box doesnot let me view freeview . on my bt vision box.

This system can only be used if you subscribe to BT Vision.
They have it configured so that Freeview only works once the box has checked your subscription.
I think this is a bit mean of BT because with their system Freeview is not free as you cannot access it without paying the monthly fee.
