How do I change out coils in a 2003 ford expedition 5.4 V8?

Your truck has what is called coil in plug commonly known as CIPS. They are located on top of the spark plug boot. You have to take out small bolt that holds it onto the sparkplug. Then you can take out spark plugs. The CIPS are expensive (about 85-100 per cip). I ordered mine on the internet for about 10 bucks a piece and the were new. Be advised you may not need to replace all the CIPS. I only had to change 3 out of 8. Have autozone run a code check then you will know exactly which CIP or CIPS are bad. I would change all the plugs if you have over 60,000 miles on them. Additionally after you change the plugs your truck computer will have to "relearn" the firining order. The truck will run rough for about 3-4 restarts then it will run smooth. Getting the plugs changed took me 5 hours. Theres a lot of stuff in your way as you will see once you get started. The back 2 plugs on both sides are a real pain. Good luck !!

# 5 cylinder wont fire, i dont know which cylinder is #5. 2000 ford expidition

looking at the engine from the front. #5 will be the first cylinder nearest to the radiator on the drivers side. by the way its probably the cips(coil in plug) thats bad. once your replace the cips the computer has to relearn the firing sequence. it will take about 3-5 restarts before this will happen. i just did this to 3 cips this past january. easy fix.

What has to be taken off to change all 8 coils on 2000 ford expedition

actually nothing. what ford has are called "cips" coil in plug. i just changed my spark plugs out. the spark plug is covered by the "cip". the back 2 near the firewall on both side are a royal pain. forgot to say that each cip is held into place by one bolt (i think its a 10mm bolt). this job will take about 4-6 hours. a faster technique is to unbolt fuel rail and gently pry up the injectors this willl give you more work space. i am willing to bet your plugs are bad and not the "cips". if you are going to change the cip then do the plugs also. the cips run for about 60 to 80 bucks a pop.

Blue vertical line thru picture

It is called "Thin vertical lines" and change colors depending on the background color.
It is fixable but there are several components that can show this sympton.

You will need a tech to fix it in order to save money (because you do not want to buy a board you dont know if will fix it).
Possible Solutions:
Replace Timer Control Board, if it is not fixed
Replace Sustain Board.

One of those boards needs to be replaced and I wrote the most likely first.

Dead screen

this would be due to a convergence issue either in the color wheel or the ballast. It is probably a balast that will need to be replaced.

Flashing in Blk,Wht, and a little color

Sounds like maybe your color wheel needs to be replaced. If you have noticed a humming noise in conjunction with the intermittent colors, then that is most likely the issue.
My 51" Vivitek started to hum loudly about 2 months ago and I kind of ignored it ,but it got so loud and annoying I had to do something.First changed the bulb and then bought a color wheel at www.vancebaldwin.com .Login as guest and then enter your model number into corresponding box. They have a few Vivitek parts.
I replaced my color wheel myself and it works great!
I'd be happy to help any way I can.
Good luck!

Plasma screen color problems

Hi
I just bought a 42pc5d plasma tv it's an LG I bought it in Sept. 07 it started doing the exact same thing your talking about here the red glow type thing. Luckily for me and I hope in your case that the tv is under warranty, although if you know someone or even a repair place I don't think it would cost much to fix (just a guess but the guy told me that it was an easy fix so don't let them try to screw you). It really is a simple fix according to the tech. You need to adjust the voltage. He took the tv and watched it until he saw the red and adjusted the voltage and I had my tv back the next day. This was about a week ago and I haven't seen it since. I hope this helps and I hope you have a warranty. By the way LG comes with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty standard so if you didn't get an extended warranty from where you bought it if it's less than 2 years old call LG and they will arrange to have it fixed that's what I did. Here's the number 1-888-542-2623. Good luck.
