When troubleshooting these units, there are always several variables to consider. First check to see what last occurred with the unit such as did the children play video games, did the electricity go out due to bad weather. You may see that there are many possibilities but let's focus on what occurred last to the unit. Once we determine what happened last, we may isolate the actual cause of the problem. The actual cause may be associated with projection issues, older versions (Picture tube), interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common with the error you have provided today. Please continue to look for anything EXTERNAL to the unit before looking at the internal components. I have been working on these a long time so feel free to follow up with me. Last, check your input setting to pop the tv set back over to where it used to be.

Mom's Sharp Aquos TV no sound or picture there is a green flashing light where the power light is I heled the volume up and channel down while the TV was unplugged. plugged it back in sound no picture

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Sharp Aquos 32 LCD freezes on air channel

I had the same problem, same channel, same day. It must be a problem with signal strength. With the TV on, I unplugged the coax cable that leads to my antenna (I am not on cable). As soon as I disconnected the antenna, I could change the channel off of 11.1. I plugged the antenna back in and all other channels work. Hope this helps.

Cannot tune all digital cahnnels on Sharp aquos

Start by doing a factory settings/ defaults on the Sharp rather than a normal automatic retune. This should then be ok. You need to empty the existing presets first so it will find the new type of signal BBC is now using.
If still not working for BBC1 +2 then look at whether you have too much aerial signal strength. (ie a booster/splitter that you could bypass)

Line accross top of the screen with flashing black and white boxes

Thin white dashes on top of screen is PERFECTLY NORMAL. It is nothing wrong with the TV, it is the broadcast. What you are seeing is the very bottom of the timecode running. It doesn't happen all of the time or all channels. It usually happens with old 4:3 commercials predating "Digital TV." This is mentioned in your Users Manual. You should be able to adjust the horizontal/vertical position in the menu settings.

HTTP MESSAGE ON SCREEN

Go into your closed caption settings and most likely you have accidently activated one of the TEXT modes. Turn that off and your TV should be back to normal.
