I have water leaking out of a samsung side by side fridge/freezer

This is caused by a blocked defrost drain. The cold air for the fridge is vented from the evaporator behind the freezer. Once every 24 hours the defrost timer, stops the compressor and applies power to a heater at the freezer evaporator coils. The defrosted water drips and runs to a drain normally into a metal tray on the compressor where it evaporates. On my GE fridge freezer there is a hose and a small p-trap at the rear. Easy to remove, soak in bleach and hot water and then flush through. Help for Samsung drains in the link.

Unfortunately a lot of Manufacturers like to cut corners when you have a refrigerator like that like the type that we had as well they don't come with trays to catch the condensing water it just doesn't happen dude so unfortunately you know you kind of got to make something yourself but that's the only advice I can give you but I hope it solves your problem it's not just peeing for no reason

Probably one of the plastic tubes under the refrigerator is leaking.

I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THIS FRIDGE FREEZER-THE ENGINEER WHO CAME TO FIX IT SAID THAT SAMSUNG STOPPED MAKING THIS MODEL BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH IT- THE ENGINEER REPAIRED IT BY DEFROSTING IT WITH A WALLPAPER STREAMER AND ALSO SAID HE CUT OFF A PIECE OF THE RUBBER TUBING WHICH CARRIES THE WATER THROUGH THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM BUT HE COULDN'T TELL ME WHY IT DID THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE

I have a Samsung side by side - model RS253BAWW.

Water was leaking onto floor from main refrigerator, not freezer. It was determined to be a blocked defrost drain.

The repair technician removed the trays and food from fridge, remove the screws from the panel at back, disconnected everything and remove panel.
The stainless tray at bottom of fridge as well as panel itself had solid ice blockage.

He placed panel in sink and used something similar to a blow dryer with narrow hose on it to defrost both the panel and drain in fridge. Took him maybe 15 minutes and charged $99 total for the visit.

In future I will do this myself now that I know how but thought it may be useful information to others who are having similar problems.

Sounds like a blocked defrost drain. By "American" I presume you mean side-by-side.
I had a similar problem with a freezer-on-top style Samsung. The solution to that was to defrost the freezer, remove the false backing plate in the freezer (required removal of the ice cube tray. the panel just pops out with a bit of pulling). The drain hole beneath the freezer coils was blocked with ice. This drain passes down into the fridge and then out the back of the fridge into the evaporation pan next to the motor. There is a collector pan under the freezer coils, this and the drain hole were filled with ice. When the freezer goes into its self-defrost cycle the water collects here and then overflows into the fridge.
I removed the ice with hot water/vinegar mixture (so it doesn't re-freeze immediately) and simultaneosuly used a bit of chiselling with a screwdriver to clear the drain plug. I did this from inside the fridge working up the drain hole into the freezer. The whole job took about an hour.

probably the defrost drain blocked. remove back panel from inside freezer and melt ice off with hairdryer and follow up with hot water till water flows away freely.
you may find all the pipework iced up and if so you have a problem with defrost system.
an alternative way is to switch off for 24 hours and leave doors open

I found my leak, after checking all lines, connectors, couplers, behind the second to bottom drawer from what appears to be a cooling resevoir. It appears the seams are slightly leaking on both sides. I found water pooling under the bottom drawer and then leaking out the front and followed it back. My Samsung is model RS2556SH

2 places filter can be top left upper corner of fridge or behind the fridge with a little longer filter type

the smell could be the filter but i would pull all drawers and shelves and i would check for mold also the possibility of water leak behind panel of water spout that has molded over this smell you could never forget cause smells like old gym socks
