When i switched on my laptop it powers up okay then just goes blank with a blue screen

Your inverter board might be going bad. Google your laptop model and should be able to find a replacement inverter board.

Sounds like your screen is being switched to "Power Save" mode due to inactivity. This should switch back when the mouse is moved. This can take several seconds on a laptop. You can remove this "Power Save" by right clicking anywhere on blank desktop, select "Properties", "Screen Saver" and "Power Settings" then select "Always On" for the monitor.

it sounds like your most likely having trouble with the hibernate feature try this
start>>control panel>>power options>> click on the hibernate tab
un check enable hibernate mode
this should fix your issue

unplug everything from your laptop unplug the power from the laptop close it and turn it over remover the battery open and hold the on button(battery is still removed) for a 10 count, replace the battery
turn on you can plug the power cord if needed the prob. should be fixed

Are you able to see a slight image on it at dusk and maybe with the help of a flashlight. since your blue light stays on the video board, may be okay.
It sounds like you have bad capacitors on your powerboard or possibly a burned out transistor on the inverter.

Only way to really tell is to open it up.
If you unplug the screen to video board ribbon, you may notice a different effect in the screen lighting.
There is a chance one of your bulbs is creating a problem
Should the screen happen to light up all white, then your power board and inverter are okay and the problem may be in the video board.
If it looks pinkish or dark or flickers then the bulbs or a bulb may be the issue.
If it flashes on then goes off, it's in the power or inverter board.
