Hi there, I have a Yamaha CDX S50 cd player (about 15yrs old). Always been reliable but noe is giving problems. Just wondering if you think it is too old to repair ? It starts to play then stops about 6 secs into track 1, & goes back to beginning. If I skip a few tracks it will often play OK from there on. Have tried a cleaning CD several times so the laser thing should be clean of dust but problem still remains. Also, sometimes the CD tray gets stuck & won't open. Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, the problem is likely in the wiring or possibly a burned fuse. There is a separate wire to the radio that is always hot and keeps the station and clock settings while the key is off. If you tell me the car model and year, I may be able to tell you which wire and fuse to check. Was this working originally or has it never worked?
