Try again! Remove the paper from the rear tray. Turn off the printer. Load the tray again making sure that it pressed frimly in and not over loaded - say about 30 sheets. Turn printer on again and see if it is ok. If still the same problem, get in touch with supplier or maker.

The photo paper is a little stiffer than bond, you usually just need to clean the feed roller with a damp rag to restore grip. When it ejects like that it usually means the paper is getting in too late due to slippage of the feed roller.
This is a good printer, if the paper is blank you may need a purge assembly, if there are 11 blinks of the error light it just needs Canon special lube for the paper transport. Definitely worth the repair...
