Hi, my ps3 is connected to a lynksys modem and when i try to get internet connection it obtains the ip address but fails to get the internet connection. After it fails it says the connection to the server timed out (80028E01). How do i fix it.
I have the same problem, i am using a wireless router which was working fine a couple of months ago but have been so busy haven't had time to play on it. Try shutting down your router or modem for a few minutes. Turn it back on and try again. If it still doesn't work, then your router or modem may be outdated.

Try turning off your modem and router for a couple of minutes and then turn them back on again and go into the settings menu and reset you internet network settings, see if that helps.
Try swapping the ends of the ethernet cable between your PS3 and the router. Otherwise, try a different ethernet cable. Also check that there are lights on by your ethernet port on the PS3 and the router.
reset your router. if this doesnt work restart your cable or dsl modem. you can also try tochange cables. use wireless instaed or wired connection. wifi card goes bad on the ps3 sometimes
Turn off the PS3, unplug the power to the cable modem, let them sit 5 mins.
Plug in the power to the cable modem ONLY, wait for all lights to be on steady except for the activity light
Then turn on the PS3 and check the network IP addy.
