I inhereted my Panasonic PT-52DL10 in 2004. Before I had it sat in a relatives apartment in Florida and was barely used. When I got it in 2004 the lamp was not working yet at that point it was under warranty and was replaced. The TV was used almost daily between 2004-2005. However, I moved in 2005 and the set was too big for my bedroom so it was put in my finished basement and has been rarely used since then (at most maybe 1-2 hours per week). I am now about two weeks away from moving again and when I tried to start it up about a week ago the green "on" light blinks yet the set doesnt start. The lamp replacement light is not illuminated and shouldnt be because it is supposed to last 5000 hours. I tried turning it on again today and the green "on" light blinked for a while then went to standby. I then tried turning it on from the remote and green light just kept blinking. I have check the manual and there is nothing in there about green "on" light continually blinking. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
I just went through this issue. First, we replaced the bulb which did nothing. Next, I swapped out the ballast assembly which did nothing.
Basically, the color wheel is not spinning up, preventing the lamp from firing. One cannot buy just the color wheel, though. You need the entire light engine which is about $2000. Only, they are no longer available.
I may take this unit over to my shop and try whacking the color wheel and see if it will spin up. If it does, then problem found. If not, the set is landfill bound.
