Steps to setup Belkin wireless router f7d1301 v1 to a modem.

  1. Make sure that your modem works by connecting the modem directly to your computer.
  2. If the modem works connect the modem to the router then the router to your computer.
  3. Log into your belkin router address (default) 192.168.2.1
  4. Login with password (Before you can change any settings, you need to login with a password. If you have not yet set a custom password, then leave this field blank and click "Submit.").
    1. Leave password section blank and click submit.
  5. Go to Utilities > Restore Factory Defaults on left hand side navigation. (Using this option will restore all of the settings in the Router to the factory (default) settings. It is recommended that you backup your settings before you restore all of the defaults. To restore the factory default settings, click the "Restore Defaults" button below.)
    1. Click the "Restore Defaults" (Router is rebooting seconds remaining.)
  6. Login with password (Before you can change any settings, you need to login with a password. If you have not yet set a custom password, then leave this field blank and click "Submit.").
  7. Go to WAN > MAC Address on left hand side navigation. (Some ISPs require that you clone (copy) the MAC address of your computer's network card into the Router. If you are not sure then simply clone the MAC address of the computer that was originally connected to the modem before installing the Router. Cloning your MAC address will not cause any problems with your network)
    1. Hit Clone (Clone Computer's MAC Address)
  8. Got to Wireless > Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) on left hand side navigation. (Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) is the industry standard method to simplify the security setup and management of the Wi-Fi networks. You now can easily setup and connect to a WPA-enabled 802.11 network with WPS-certificated devices using either Personal Information Number (PIN) or Push Button Configuration (PBC) method. Legacy devices without WPS can be added to the network using the traditional manual configuration method.)
    1. Click on the drop down box next to Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)and select Disable.
  9. Got to Wireless > Security on left hand side navigation.
    1. Click on the drop down box next to Security Mode and select 64bit WEP.
    2. Change Key 1 to your phone number (2 digits in each box with area code included.) Your phone number is your password when setting up a wireless connection.
    3. Apply changes.
  10. Got to Wireless > Channel and SSID on left hand side navigation.
    1. Click on the drop down box next to Wireless Channel > and select 6.
    2. Click on the drop down box next to Extension Channel > and select 2 (if not already on it).
    3. Click on the box next to SSID > and enter a new name (you can use any combo of letters or numbers). Write this down because it will be necessary to enter this information when connecting wirelessly.
    4. Apply changes.
This is what I did on the phone when I spoke to technicalsupport for Belkin and it worked. I can't guarantee that this will work for youbut it's worth a try. If I missed any steps I am sorry.

Yes, you can connect:

DSL modem WAN/Internet port on Belkin #1

LAN/network port on Belkin #1 WAN/Internet port on Belkin #2

LAN/network port on Belkin #2 your computer

If the two Belkins are in different rooms, and there are more than one computer in the room with Belkin #2, it makes sense to run ONE (not MANY) Ethernet cables from Belkin #1 to Belkin #2.

Is there any case that the port from belkin router

This may happen due to double NAT issue.... the DSL modem might give an IP address in the range of belkin route....that is 192.168.2.X check for the ip address when the computer is directly connected to the DSL modem... now check for the IP adress when the Belkin alone is connected to the computer.... if they both give an IP adress like this 192.168.2.X......(X can be any value) then you will face the above issue..... in that case you can login to router and change the IP address of belkin router from 192.168.2.X to 192.168.15.X this will resolve the issue

So if you connect the computer directly to the modem , it works .
That means your modem is working properly. Your ISP is DSL connection. Now connect the modem to the router and the computer to the router. Open the router xet up page and change the settings of the router according to the type of connection you have.
There are 2 types of connection in DSL.
DHCP and PPPOE .

No internet

Power down your modem and router by unplugging them. Wait 30 seconds. Plug your modem back in and let it cycle through. Wait until it's fully connected. Plug the router in and let it cycle through. That should fix your problem.

Belkin F5D8236-4 Wireless Router will not connect to pannaway dsl modem with same settings as router I am replacing. Dynamic IP address setup. Modem light continously blinks orange. No internet light.

1) With direct connect with modem, check the IP address and default gateway.
(I came across such a modem, it gave default gateway as 192.168.1.254)
I also had the doubt of configuring as a dynamic connection
But it won't work!
Contact your ISP to completely bridge the modem and configure the dsl modem as PPPoE connection with correct username and password.
Finally connect the modem to router and do a complete network power cycle, i.e.: Unplug power from router 1st, then power from modem, unplug the telephone line and now do the exact reverse process... Plug back the tel. cable, then power to modem... now WAIT for lights on modem to come back, then plug in the power to router. This will surely work.

Need assistance on seting up a belkin router

Connect network cable from your current DSL modem to the WAN port (or internet port) on the back of the wireless router. It should detect the connection automatically.
If not, then try running the CD software that came with the device. It should setup everything correctly.

Belkin router

I just worked on one of these today. Try this and see if it helps.

1. Unplug your cable or DSL modem and your wireless router

2. Plug back in the cable or DSL modem and wait for the internet to successfully connect (watch the lights).

3. Plug the wireless router back in again and wait for it to connect (again, watching the lights)

If this doesn't work, make sure you have the equipment plugged-in in the right order.

cable or dsl signal goes to modem ==> modem plugs into wireless router ===> computer plugs into wireless router.
